Well, the greatest talk show host in the country came up with an excellent playback of that incident with some interesting history. At the last presidential election those buses were shown taking Democrats to the polls to vote. How come the Democrats didn't use those buses to evacuate their people out of the city before the flood ?

Democrats dont own those busses. They are not owned by the city either. They are owned by a private company, thats why they werent employed after the federally funded levee broke.

[157] In a phone call to WWL radio made after the idle school and RTA buses were flooded[158], Mayor Nagin called for 500 Greyhound buses to be sent from outside the city to help evacuate. Coordination of transportation from outside the Parish is the responsibility of the Governor according to the State Evacuation Plan (Part 1 Section D).[159] Governor Blanco had yet to exercise this responsibility. Some evacuees report that the drive from New Orleans to Baton Rouge took anywhere from five hours to nine hours; this drive usually takes up to an hour. Are you kidding? There was a whole untapped section of the country that needed to be told what to think and who to follow. You can't expect people to just stick with one medium and its very difficult to wade through all those big words in the newspaper, especially while you're driving. Obviously the Rushmeister filled that huge gap, and probably prevented a lot of traffic accidents in the bargain.

[elaboration] From the early days of his show (late 70's or early 80's) they actually had Rush listening rooms, he had a cult following. When rush agreed with a politician he would say "Ditto That". His lemmings picked it up like a secret handshake type thing. Anytime they would quote Rush Blowhard his zombies would say ditto. [/elaboration]
