Mr. Schwarzenegger had barely taken the oath of office in November 2003 when some Democrats began talking about a counter-recall. But the idea was quickly dropped, in part because of Mr. Schwarzenegger's popularity, a reluctance to appear like poor losers and a general notion that the state was not up for more political turmoil. Since then, Mr. Schwarzenegger's approval ratings have collapsed. A poll released on Thursday by the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University showed that 36 percent of voters approved of his job performance. Still, Democratic efforts have focused on defeating Mr. Schwarzenegger's programs in the Legislature and in the special election next month. "We don't have the resources to pursue it," Mr. Torres said of the recall. "All of our money is being exhausted in trying to defeat the initiatives on Nov. 8." It took nearly $2 million for critics to qualify the recall vote against Mr. Davis, and without such an infusion of cash, it would be difficult for Dr. Matsumura to collect enough signatures in the 160 days allowed under law. History is also on Mr. Schwarzenegger's side: in 32 bids to recall the governor, only one against Mr. Davis qualified for a vote. Dr. Matsumura said he was not worried. "We are kind of proud," he said, "and think we can do it with grass-roots volunteers."

What are the reasons for the proposed recall?

I have taken a poll, and the results are two-thirds in favor of being sympathetic to the cause. But, what cause, and who was polled?

I honestly haven't paid much attention to the Gov, but Tinybear asks a good question. Aside from "Democrats don't agree", what the hell is the problem? I belive a recall is more difficult to prove, and as this article points out, historically it has only succeded once (32nd time is a charm they say). It sounds like another waste of effort if you ask me.
