VT town votes to secede to NH, Free Staters celebrate

Furious over years of skyrocketing property tax and leftist state government, residents of the VT ski town of Killington have just voted by a landslide to secede to New Hampshire. It's not clear how much impact the Free State Project had on the course of events, but the Killington area had been a primary target of FSP advertising over the last month, including television commercials and print ads urging residents to come to NH and "bring Killington with you."

The FSP is a movement aimed at recruiting 20,000 liberty lovers to move to NH.

Here's the whole scoop from Fox News:

I understand the issue is shortly to go before the state of NH with Killington seeking the support of the government there. Then they have to get VT govt. approval and US Congress approval. Long shot but a measure of how desperate some Vermonters are to escape the authoritarian system there.

They have to get Congress' approval? I knew they had to get VT to agree, but I didn't know they had to get Congress, too.

That's my understanding since it involves redrawing the borders of a state.
