I'm sure nobody here has ever heard about Atal Behari Vajpayee, nor about his Hindu party, nor would anybody here have any opinions on Indian national electrions. Now, there can be topics for debate along similar threads, specifically: What are the Muslim/Hindu inter-relations like now, and how can they be bettered, so as to decrease tensions within India and with its neighbor Pakistan? If that's what you wanted to communicate, SAY THAT. . . . whenever any government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in such forms as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. |

Traditionally, the BJP has been more or less anti-Muslim. Recently this looks like it's been changing. I've read a number of writings that worry about the BJP and its rhetoric...it's thought that they were behind recent violence in Gujirat state. Some have called them "Hindu fascists." Muslims as a whole don't trust Hindus, and vice-versa, and we all know that India and Pakistan have never ever been friends. I think Vajpayee is trying to play to the center..there are far more hardline rightwingers in his party that would love nothing less than a 'final solution' for India's Muslim (and Christian) populations. |
