| Retired Posts: 7,312 | Thanks - I hope a lot of people will offer housing - there is nowhere for them to go! "...with like-minded people one cannot discuss. With like-minded people one can only participate in a church service, and you know how I feel about church services." Ayaan Hirsi Ali |

![]() It's only logical Location: San Diego Posts: 4,958 | I called my best friend last night, and she said she's put her own house up on CraigsList, offering to put up a family -- if they can get to San Diego. She is also a Doula, (they assist midwives in birthing) and is trying to organize doula services for the babies probably being born as we speak in the various stadiums and collection points. Alas, my house is too small and I'd probably faint at the sight of a live birth, so I'll have to content myself with a cash donation. . I don't suffer from insanity... I thoroughly enjoy it |

| Retired Posts: 7,312 | They want people in the south and southeast. I donated cash, but I also want to give the things I was going to take to Goodwill. It's hard to find an organization that will take anything but cash :-( I even bought baby stuff to give.... "...with like-minded people one cannot discuss. | Retired Posts: 7,312 | There is conflicting information on whether they are accepting goods yet or not - I will keep looking for info. I can't give any more cash, but I have many (some brand new) good things to give. "...with like-minded people one cannot discuss. | pregnant with truth Posts: 2,419 | I know red cross is not acceptong goods yet. It's because they have nowhere to put all the cans of food and stuff. no way to get them to the disaster area. money and bodies is what they're asking right now. In a week or so, if nothing changes, they'll be asking for such items. |

| pregnant with truth Posts: 2,419 | This seems to be a boring topic, to most. I'm just beginning to understand this relocation thing. What kind of agreements are people arranging as far as housing? I mean, If you take someone in, at what point are you relieved of your duty? I know this is not the time to care about such things. But I'm just thinking about what kind of relief will be available to these people, if any. So, if a family came all the way up north to live with us, there is a good chance that they will have to, either, get jobs and rebuild thier money until they can have a home or move to yet another place and start rebuilding. What will keep people from being relocated refugies in their new town instead of simply relocated people? |
