| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 21 | Code Pink Is In Crawford with Ms. Sheehan. I've heard no one in the media describe or interview the people accompanying Ms. Sheehan. Theyshould be telling us who they are. How many are actually parents. How many are hard-core anti-war activist who never, ever see a reason for war. Code Pink is (surprise) largely a California organization where there are 25 "chapters". How big these chapters are we have no idea. We can only hope that more of these ladies will be interviewed so Americans can judge their motives. It would help if you would interview them and report on their comments........their rationale for believing as they do. I've noticed from radio interviews that they speak of their sons and daughters as "children" . And they claim that the terrorists are merely "ACTING OUT." Isn't "Acting Out" a term used by child psychologists to tell you why Johnny throws those little temper fits? They are ACTING OUT because they are being "occupied" say some of these women. "Medea Benjamin, Starhawk, Jodie Evans, Diane Wilson and approximately 100 other women kicked off CODEPINK on November 17, 2002." So says their website: http://www.codepinkalert.org/article...st=type&type=3 STARHAWK ""Because I believe the earth is a living being, because we are all part of that life, because every human being embodies the Goddess, because I have a fierce, passionate love for redwoods and ravens, because clear running water is sacred, I'm an activist. And because the two hundred richest people in the world own as much wealth as the poorest forty percent, because every ecosystem, traditional culture, old growth forest and life support system on the planet is under assault, and because the institutions perpetuating this unjust system are global, I'm kept very busy! Here are some of the current campaigns I'm involved, with some good resources and website links. You'll also find my current writings, information on trainings, and resources for activist trainers/preparers." -- Starhawk " http://www.starhawk.org/activism/activism.html Wikipedia describes her as: "Starhawk (born Miriam Samos in 1951) is an American writer, activist and Witch." MEDEA BENJAMIN. You may or may not have seen something about the following, but at least the Democratic Party has "met" Ms. Benjamin. "As Teresa Heinz Kerry spoke last night, on the floor of the convention, Medea Benjamin from Global Exchange and CodePink unfurled a pink colored banner that read "End the Occupation of Iraq." That apparently was not one of the DNC-approved messages of the night because within moments of the banner being unfurled, police were called in to remove Medea Benjamin. Benjamin was dragged off the convention floor and thrown out of the FleetCenter. She said that the DNC was asked whether they wanted her arrested and that they decided that would not look good." http://www.democracynow.org/article..../07/28/1327236 JODIE EVANS is another Code Pink leader. "If Howard Dean is the increasingly the voice of Democrats in America today, activist Jodie Evans is the face of the Democrats' future. A radical activist and Democratic fund-raiser, she mirrors the Party's core on its three most important issues: hating President Bush, denouncing the war and engineering the L.A. Times' last-minute sexual harassment accusations against Arnold Schwarzenegger during the California recall election." http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles...e.asp?ID=11186 One of Jodie's partners is TOM HAYDEN, Jane Fonda's EX, and one was active in anti-war activities with her and who accompanied her, I believe, on her infamous trip to visit the enemy. There is much that goes unreported........except on the Internet. If you can read this, thank a teacher -and, since it's in English, thank a soldier !! |

| Look Stuff Up Posts: 810 | Yep, and she had several thousand protesting against her and the far left yesterday, literally dwarfing the Sheehan crowd. She now wants to do her cross country tour to DC and I'm going to love it, because she and the leftist crowd will be met all along the way with pro military, pro mission, pro American protestors right back at her. It's funny to me, the hippies, leftists, your Jane Fonda types used to have no "other side" to speak up against them. Well forever more, there is now the "Other Side". |

![]() Juris Doctor Location: NY Posts: 2,414 | Wow GBA, there's something to be proud of... thousands of people came out to support killing. And I love your not-so-subtle implication that it is anti-American and anti-military to oppose war. Very slick. I assume you're a veteran and have encouraged all the teenagers in your life to enlist so they can go to Iraq and fight for your "cause"? Anyway, who cares who these people supporting Cindy Sheehan are? As the old Arabian proverb says, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Not that anyone is really my enemy, I'm just saying that I can put aside the differences I might have with these people on other issues and applaud their effort to bring an end to a pointless, costly war. Are you saying that someonne can't be opposed to the war if they have certain other characteristics? --"For the first time since the war in Iraq began, more than half of the American public believes the fight there has not made the United States safer, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. While the focus in Washington has shifted from the Iraq conflict to Social Security and other domestic matters, the survey found that Americans continue to rank Iraq second only to the economy in importance -- and that many are losing patience with the enterprise. Nearly three-quarters of Americans say the number of casualties in Iraq is unacceptable, while two-thirds say the U.S. military there is bogged down and nearly six in 10 say the war was not worth fighting -- in all three cases matching or exceeding the highest levels of pessimism yet recorded. More than four in 10 believe the U.S. presence in Iraq is becoming analogous to the experience in Vietnam."-- --"President Bush's job approval ratings are at their lowest point of his presidency as only 40% of U.S. adults have a favorable opinion of his job performance and 58% have a negative opinion, according to a Harris Interactive poll. Now you can scoff at polls if you choose, and you can insult and mock a grieving mother because she happened to have touched a button on the American psyche, and become something bigger - and more dangerous - than what she actually is. But those polls show that over half of all Americans now believe that Bush's war was a mistake. Granted, more than half believe we should continue on course, for the time being, in the hopes that Bush can salvage some sort of positive outcome. But as an NPR guest pointed out, Bush has come out repeatedly to reassure Americans and to explain the importance of our war in Iraq. But time after time, Americans are now seeing that Bush is not offering anything new, just saying the same old things -- defend our freedoms, 9/11, fight 'em on their ground, 9/11 -- stuff which the majority of Americans have long ago stopped buying. Americans are rapidly losing confidence that this administration has the vaguest clue to what it's doing or how it plans to reverse the spiralling chaos that is Iraq. Cindy Sheehan isn't your problem... she's the canary in Bush's coal mine, singing loud and clear what many, many Americans are starting to ask themselves. What, exactly, was it about Iraq and Saddam that called for this much sacrifice? Why has every single thing the administration led us to believe about the war in Iraq turned out to be false, and everything the naysayers warned would happen turned out to be true? So by all means, bring down the GOP's mean-spirited wrath upon Cindy Sheehan... if Bush's support keeps plummeting the way it is, she'll become Saint Cindy yet. But your energies would be better spent trying to figure out what the friggin' hell you're going to do if civil war breaks out before a constitution does. . I don't suffer from insanity... I thoroughly enjoy it Last edited by Sonart; Aug 29, 2005 at 12:26 am.

I support Code Pink and wish them well. They were there at the Crawford Peace House on August 6, when Cindy and the Veterans for Peace kicked it all off; and they have stuck with Cindy ever since. Driving into Crawford that day, I had no idea where to go for the demo -- until I saw the Code Pink umbrellas opened in front of the Peace House: what a wonderful sight and a useful call to arms! Go Code Pink!

| Navy Veteran Location: Texas Posts: 6,335 | At least the pro-war crowd knows which country they live, knows that what they do, sends fear into the enemy, gives comfrot to our troops, and wants this to end, with us winning, the Iraqi People free and the world safer. Can't say that about your crowd northtexan. Just reverse the above, and it's more on line. Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route? |

They are very pro killing terrorists as well as pro ending Saddam's rape rooms, mass graves, jailing of children and of course the financing of terror elsewhere. I'm sure the left likes to hear themselves say the word peace all the time, but to enable the terrorists to continue is really warped thinking IMO. To make stupid statements against the war and our President that emboldens the terrorists to fight means the left are enabling the enemy and that is about it IMO. They are being passive support for terrorism IMO making propganda for the enemy that will cause the death toll of American soldiers to rise.
