The hippies, as they were often called, thrived in the 60s and 70s.

They went to protests against the Vietnam War (then went home to their comfortable couches and slept). They smoked weed all day long. They denounced corporate power (after eating corporate-made food), then denounced government control.

Today, they're still around. They're the ones who drink latte in Bohemian cafes, driving BMWs and Mercedes, and debating against war and capitalism. They go home to $300,000 condos, work at corporate jobs, and complain about globalisation. They have sicknesses like "people altriustic related phobia" and "depressive symtonic yulaositc srdsiuoijf mind disease". They say "Its ssoooooooo depressiong Ethiopians are poor", and "Lets go shopping!" in the same breath.

Yes, thats whats happened to them. Richard Branson was one of them. Now he's a corporate giant, competing against airline companies, fighting to increase his power.

People don't protest because they truely care. They protest because its the hip thing to do. "Its cool to be against globalization and korporations and evilness".

Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you.

Yeah, I figured that one out too. It's why I no longer protest. Perhaps it may seem I'm selling out by going into business instead, but as I see it, it's the only way to address the problems we have while still recognizing people's tendency toward self-interest. There is nothing wrong with self-interest, but you have to use it in the right way in order for it to be truly self-interested

Of course, I don't wanna be rich because I recognize the instability of being rich. I don't ever want to fear of losing what I have. I've got better things to do... I prefer to receive my pay in knowledge rather than coin, and it hasn't failed me yet.
