I'll add a recent bit of economic news -

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/08/....ap/index.html

The economic plans put in place by Republicans, much to the chagrin of the opposition, and despite the current high costs of fuel, still grows the economy at a better than expected rate.

The Gloom and Doomers will run their numbers to soften the effect but the underlying numbers point to an indication that the economy is increasing.
do you have any evidence direclty connecting bush's tax cuts to the current state of the economy? or, is this just some cheerleading?

Hi Sonart,

My handle is a statement of blessings on America.
I was interested in seeing what conservatives use as a handle in general. I went on the net and checked a message board and it seems they use mostly fun names that poke fun at themselves and they appear easy going.

Let's PLURALIZE asap! Or go to a one-party or no-party pure democracy. Republican ideals are like religion - they're handed down from father to son, a little warped and twisted and rooted in individual ignorance. That son grows up and votes in George Dubya, causes a war and thousands of deaths, all because he never took the time to think about what being a "republican" usually really means.

Political Compass:
Economic Left/Right: -4.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.95

Tokah, I was a Democrat who couldn't stand their corruption and that is why I am a Republican.

It is more likely that the young are Democrats, even if they are the children of Republicans because younger people are into fantasy and an ideal world without any reality to fall back on yet.
Later as you grow up, learn responsibilty and pay taxes, you tend to grow more conservative and that is where the creation of most Republicans come from.

Not so true. I am 30. Back in my younger days I never was interested in politics. I was a right wing nutjob such as yourself back in 2000. After 2003 My opinion started to change and I began to see the light. I am no longer a brainwashed kool aid drinker of the right. I am an independant minded person who sees things from both sides. I have had no influence on my departure from the right. It was my own choice. I have paid taxes since 1991. That little bit about "the old are conservative" is a stereotype.

Hi Chris, if you were not intereted in politics you were just young and that would hardly suggest you were conservative once.
You are independent in that you like everyone have their own opinion.
As far as today, based on your posts I've read so far, you seem a typical liberal. :-)

What conservative views if any did you EVER hold and why?

You got it wrong.

I was not interested in politics until 2000. So from the time I was 18 until 2000 I was not interested in politics. Then from 2000 - 2003 I was a right wing nutjob just like you. Listened to Rush, Sean Hannity, Oreilly, watched Fox News and read Drudge. My conservative views Mirrored your current views. Why? Because of talk radio etc. Then I became older and wiser and started to form my own opinion.

Conservatives also believe in funding a war when they need to.

Bush did do well with the economy as well.

I would agree in non-war times that you would be able to run a much tighter fiscal ship.

I'm also pretty sure you consider most people who don't think like you a closet fascist, how else could you live with your views?

GodBlessAmerica,
The first link you post from Yahoo does not work for me.

And your second link contradicts everything you are trying to claim. The article clearly says that Greenspan admits he would never have recomended the tax cuts that Bush pushed for.

Another words, he is saying the massive tax cuts were a terrible mistake for this country. Unlike Bush I give him credit for atleast being honest about what has happened.

He's done well with all a President could do, especially after 9/11 got dropped on his lap.

RVonse, that was my point, even King Greenspan got it wrong, meanwhile Bush got it right and came in 100 BILLION "UNDER" predictions. And during a war.

It's the associated press reported by Yahoo by the way.

RV, it wasn't Bush who had Bin Laden and let him go.
It also wasn't Bush who put up a wall that didn't allow the FBI to know about active terrorist cells in America.
Want to guess which prior President earned that honor?

I agree that there sure could be WW3 between the modern world and radical Islam.
But, the reason is they have their terrorist blowing up people all around the world. Eventually that will require a price back for doing that to the world.

Really? Where is he now, then? I thought we had him pinned up in Tora Bora during the Afghan invasion....

Ahh Matt Pay him/her no mind. Godbless has been listening too much of Sean Hannity et al. They all make the baseless claim that Bill Clinton had Osama offered to him on a "silver platter" but failed to get him. Being the time travelers that they are, They went back into time and seen how easy it would have been to really capture Bin Laden back then and also blame it on Clinton in the end.
