What a crock of shite, you've got Coalition troops actively (albeit a relatively small number) breaking the Geneva Conventions where a blind eye is often turned by CO's and Senior NCO's (if the matter comes to light the guilty seem to get a slap on the wrist) and then you have a general, who has a relationship with a woman, a private citizen and ends up getting a divorce. What happens.....they relieve the man of his command and threaten him with further action such as a reduction in Rank and pay which will hurt his pension etc......what a crock. Youc an go off on the tangent about the Geneva Convention all you want, no one is listening. The General did something the UCMJ says don't do. And he's taking the fall he rightly deserves for it. Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route? |

They put me through Uni and I am eternally grateful. The man has an exemplary military record, has served in numerous theatres with honour and distinction. Officers are yes held to higher professional and ethical standards, and so it should be...but this is a crock of shit. The UCMJ demands disciplinary action for adultery, from my somewhat flimsy knowledge the Judge Advocate Generals office recommends a reprimand for adultery, not the removal of command. This is an insult to anybody whos has ever served in Uniform, never done anything to damage the reputation of their Uniform. Divorce happens, like I said this man has a fantastic military record which will now be tarnished by something that happened in his private life....not his military life. The topic is an Army General who fucked around and lost command, not comparative views of your opinion on the issue of prisoners. No, the army is not evil. It deserves leaders equal to the quality of our troops, rather than the scoundrels who lead it now. And no one cares about my views? Well as 60% of American now say the war in Iraq is a mistake and about the same number say Bush can't be trusted, I am not in the minority anymore. It the war mongers like yourself who may be feeling increasingly lonely. Rick "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." Sinclair Lewis | |
