This is scary...

The lengths that cops, attorneys, and judges will go to protect each other.

Plus, I think the woman who caused all of this to happen, and only came forward for the reward money (reward for causing a murder!) should be prosecuted.

What do you think?

A snippit:

M. Smith said she knew Buddy was married, but didn't care: "I enjoyed flirting with him."

Apparently, Buddy wasn’t the only person she was interested in, says Williams. Smith was also dating a police officer, and she knew he was married with children.

That married police officer, whom Smith refers to (these are not real names) as "Jim," and his two friends, "Tom" and "Charlie," followed her to the cabinet shop that night.

"I had been in the cabinet shop talking to Buddy for about 20 minutes when Jim, Tom, and Charlie entered," wrote Smith. "Jim went berserk. He pulled a gun and said he was going to kill both of us. I knew he was jealous, but I had never seen him that crazy."....

I only skimmed the article, but I'm thinking the police officer M. Smith was seeing was probably involved in the coverup...

Well, I think we need to back off of that statement a bit. You are making a blanket statement about three noble professions when really this is an isolated incident not proven to have been committed by anyone other then the deceased. There is an ongoing investigation and until the facts are proven in a court of law, I think it is premature to make a indictatory statement against large groups of people,

Just curious, if this were three plumbers (and I can say this because my father is one) who had committed this crime, would you have said "it's amazing the lengths to which union tradesmen will go to protect each other"? Would this story even have been posted, or would you just have shuddered at a story of a possible murder and moved on?

You're right, and I didn't mean to make it a blanket statement. I have a family full of attorney's, I was engaged to be a cop, and I grew up wanting to be a judge.

I should have said sometimes, and the 'scary' part is the power these groups have to do this, in the rare instances that they do, but of course that goes for any group in a position to be able.

My point was that there is a brotherhood, that sometimes is so strong that things like this occur. It is also among fraternaties, polititions, etc.

What this story made me think of was the days when a black person could be killed in the South, and no one would prosecute, but that's the way most people thought and wanted and wanted at that time, not just the groups involved.

Anyway, it's clear that if this story is true to the account given by M. Smith, that there was a cover-up. I doubt the man broke his own nose and bound himself that way, etc., to kill himself, and the judge involved in present day said basically that.

I'm curious to look up whether there is any way to prosecute the woman who brought it all about, but I doubt it.

The story is very sad, and I can't believe she'd accept reward money for it.

This should have been in the politics and news section. Will a mod move it and make up a better title for me?

Thanks!

The officer M. Smith was seeing beat and raped her while his two cop buddies committed the murder.

Everyone covered it up. The police, the ME....
