| Volcanic Erupter Location: Mexico City Posts: 4,772 | You'll have to be vague on the occupation's end because it really isn't an 'occupation' in the first place -at least not from Iraq or the US' 'official' perspective. It actually is an occupation inasmuch as military forces are deployed and operate under their own command in the country with authority over the civilian government there. The 'occupation' will end depending on how you define this. If it means any foreign military presence that could be a lot later than if you'd recognize joint military command or some sort of subordination to the local authorities. Occupation is a laden term with immediate direct reference first to WW2 and the Germans in France, it also is readily refered to the Israeli presene in conquered territory. Neither of these examples are very positive, in the earlier it sprouted insurgency and resistance, in the latter terrorism as well, now we apply it to Iraq to distill what? |
