Retaliation: Muslims Burn The US Constitution

CAIRO, Egypt - Muslims spat on the American flag, threw tomatoes at a picture of President Bush and burned the U.S. Constitution in protests Friday from
Iraq to Indonesia over the alleged desecration of Islam's holy book at Guantanamo Bay prison.

Waving copies of the Quran, many of the thousands of demonstrators across the Middle East and Asia chanted anti-American slogans and demanded an apology from the United States, as well as punishment for those who treated the book with disrespect at the U.S. lockup.

U.S. investigators admitted Thursday there was mishandling of the Quran but contend it was mostly inadvertent and deny that one had been put in a toilet. Friday's protests were organized before the officials' comments in Washington.

I don't expect any reactions from anyone considering this isn't the first time they have protested the U.S. in this way. If you keep doing the same thing over and over again, eventually, it loses its impact.

If they didn't hold the Judeo-Christian scriptures sacred themselves and they did the same with it, all the religious nuts in this country would be losing it. I would imagine they would set up concentration camps, persecute muslims and start supporting the crusade/genocide.

What? We're just talking about burning some books and flags here. Now the kidnappings, beheadings, suicide bombs and use of human shields; now that's what gets me incensed. Still, I won't start a riot and start killing innocent people. :rolleyes:

Tinybear, what they are trying to do is DRAW the ATTENTION of the American people to the actions of their (USA's) government. They know our governments actions over there are mostly the opposite of what we preach as a nation, in our constitution. .(no new nation-building, respecting the liberty of free peoples, removing arms from civillians further empowering the combatants both insurgent and local Iraqis though OUR constitution strictly forbids it for our OWN people, a history of training and helping known dictators when it suits us and killing them when it doesn't, refusing to ACKNOWLEDGE its errors in judgment, fact-finding, and more importantly correcting the wrongs they have caused)

They know that Americans, true Americans, value the Constitution. What more could you possibly do as an outsider to this country to GET THE ATTENTION of the people? Spewing truth doesn't work, the media covers it up. Picking arms up and fighting against the American insurgency doesn't work, the media labels THEM terrorists.

What options are there?
Peaceful protest, such as they are doing. Violence, which they have done. Crying out to the media, which they have done. It just stands as evidence that the American people DON'T CARE about their plight, because it doesn't directly affect THEM. Much like the unconstitutional laws that have been passed in this country in the past. People don't open their mouths, or care of others until the law DIRECTLY AFFECTS THEM.

Our government has carte' blanche when it comes to ACTING in OUR NAME since there are no checks and balances when declaring war any longer. Unfortunately, since they don't census for public opinion, there is no proof other than rigged news polls how the American public TRULY feels.

This is EXACTLY what the government in the United States wants. A ticket to wield the most devastating army in the world for its own purposes, in the name of the people. Iraq is the most glaring proof of this known today, after of course our past proofs of this.(Columbian drug insurgency involving Pablo Escobar, which the black market helped empower, Oliver North scandal, and every other "police-action" since and including Vietnam.)
