| Principled Observer Location: Toledo, Ohio Posts: 13,873 | Bill Moyer speaks on the truth about the news, and PBS. The link I am providing below will take you to a written transcript of Bill Moyers speech at the National Conference for Media Reform. A truly revealing and heartfelt speech about the importance of taking back our media. I would love to hear some input on your personal opinions on the issue of the lack of a "free press" in the national media. http://www.freepress.net/news/8120 If you reply, please take the time to at least read the link. The decline of objective journalism is and will be a key element in the demise of this republic. Unfortunately, it's something that can't be stopped or reversed, a form of cultural entropy. American democracy is old, tired, and sick, a look at the Serengeti will show you what happens to such as this. It's a natural process called evolution. Obviously Bill Moyers doesn't know his American history all that well. "the junk food of propoganda" was far worse in our history. People are much better off hearing each side of the story and doing the investigating on their own. Of course that takes some real work and effort and most people can't be bothered to do so. To posit that a person is capable of removing their biases and preconceived notions from their writings is utterly ridiculous. Agenda reporting is the norm. Even several mainstream media reporters have admitted that the reasons they entered journalism was the change things. Moyers comes off to me as another bitter, angry leftist with an axe to grind and plenty of sheep to follow him. |

Many Americans still believe that that Democrats are "Left", and Republicans are "Right". Nothing could be further from the truth. I am convinced that most Americans just like dividing themselves up into camps so they can argue without having to know the facts. Notice how I let Moyers answer you in is own words as well. I also think its amusing to watch you call people sheep, when you yourself are part of another large flock. I have news for you. When people speak of the Herd of Independent thought, or the Sheeple, that includes both Republicans, and Democrats. Granted, you have divided up into two camps, but both of these parties are full of people who just regurgitate the same tired party mantra, and the same bi-partisan talking points to weave their way around the truth.

I don't have any problem with him being a partisan leftist at all. What I resent is that he and others in the MSM try to tell us they are not partisan, not biased, and objective. I like to know which side my news is coming from, then I can research and fact check and make my own determinations. Quote:

One thing that I've noticed is that Republicans tend to believe that Democrats are wrong and Democrats tend to believe that Republicans are not only wrong but evil.
