Which Party is the "Coolest"

In my experiance, it seems that various parties have differing degrees of "trendiness". For example, it seems that wherever you go in the country, Democrats are seen as being more hip/sophistocated that republicans. The Greens also seem to have a "cool factor" that reps or libertarians don't have.

Any thoughts on this?

Though trends and "hipness" are a factor in society, I do not partake. I wouldn't cross the street to get ANYONES autograph, nor would I ever judge a political party by how hip or trendy they were.

However, for those that are affected in this way, I would say it is strictly material jealousy, or awe. It could also be a possibility of external validation issues.

I voted for Libertarian, because if I had to say any of them were cool, it would be them. They trumpet the views of Constitutional Law, and understand the necessity of civil liberties, rights and most importantly government limitations.

Nothing cooler than fighting for the rights of ALL!

As a libertarian I agree - but I don't think they are a very trendy party.

I certainly hope no one here votes based on the trendiness of a party - but it *is* an undeniable factor in our political system.

I would say the Republicans are the coolest.

What's more trendy then belonging to the party the Media and the Academic's hate? When movies are made like F911 you know you're on the cool side.

It's hip to be a rebel against the establishment.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

The Republicans and Democrats are equally vile. The Green Party is a quaint anachronism. The Libertarians are a bad joke, regrettably, but I continue voting for them if only so that I can't be accused of apathy.

To be hip, one must first have a clue. Just another anti-establishment big oil/Hailburtan supporter. Can't bet much closer to the edge than that. No sir.

Nice spin...

Its trendy to be Republican because kids like saying "lets nuke those towel heads"

Its trendy to be Republican because white middle class kids like saying "niggers suck"

And Mr. V if you say "well not me" I would say a lot do....not all are as informed as you are. Most average joes just know the basics...

Hmm... the coolest I think that the libratariens would have a heuge party and toke up like mad... the dems would join in and play all of the good music. The republicans would do gospile and drink like a fish and play awsome folk. Greenies... ::chuckles:: shrooms all the way and all natural food. You would also have the anacharists doing their own thing never admiting to liking the party. If I missed any please tell... Seriosuly this is what I figured ya ment by it. Personally I think kerry and bush both lost the hip factor since ones a monkey and the others a stiff... I don't even know the lib guy who ran and ralf nader... oh yea when I goto clubs I only goto his... Polotics isn't hip or cool and anyone who tries to make it such as rock the vote, are fools. I never herd of anyone voting becasue MC hammer was like, yo you gotta vote... and I don't know how well teh vote or die cmapagin worked out but that was my favorite. I am going for the p diddy party.

Ya' know, I seriously thought that the winner of this poll would be the dems.

Maybe it's because I live in an ultra-conservative state, so the dems act all sophistocated and badass.

I don't know about that, I think the libertarians have quite a big bandwagon trailing them. I, too, travelled with it for a short time.

Although I voted Green, in hindsight, I'd say none of them, since anything regarding politics is immediately uncool anyways.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

Well there certainly a lot of people who go with the whole libertarian thing to be big and tough so they can say things like:

"I think the poor should starve"
"Let the old people eat rats"
"Survival of the fittest"
"yah, I think prostitution should be legalized"

Because when you can say big tough things like that it makes you a big man.

Although i never thought of them as "trendy" so much as abject assholes.

I reckon the Nazis were pretty cool. I mean, just look at their stormtroopers. You don't see the crappy American democracy having stormtroopers.

Carefull not to say "Nazi" more than once in a post. If you do the patriot act kicks in and you go to Guantanamo.

I don't really think 'cool' should enter into politics myself.. but a lot of people will vote the way people they know do, so perhaps that could be classed under a 'trendiness' factor?
