Let's say you get your favourite form of government. Socialism, fascism, democracy, libertarianism, etc.

And let's say that government finally solves all the world's problems.

The sacrifice, then, is that there are no more challenges. Everything is 100% perfect. You are given a secure (if somewhat boring) job. Your life under the new regime becomes perfect, so you don't need to improve anything.

Would you accept this sacrifice for a perfect world?
No challenges <---> No creativity <---> No progress.
A world of stagnacy, followed by systematic alienation, degradation, ect. and Mankind ceases its existance, one day.

There is nothing "perfect" in the world we live in, except for :
- mathematics (with some "restrictions")
- our dreams

IF I "eject" my own ego for the "peace of mind"s price, then :
- who am I ?

Well said. If you want to get darwinian about it, we would stop evolving, because conflict and struggle is one of the major selective factors.

Fixed ideas are like a cramp in the foot - the best remedy against it is to tread on it.

In that case, with all the emphasis on peace and cooperation in schools over competition, we're not evolving much.

Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you.

Yah, if we want optimum evolution, we should have a society with more sharp edges and fewer safety rails.

I propose a ban in all protective devices, from safety goggles and groin cups to baby-latches and traction tape! Down with OSHA! Let the accidents begin!

Or something...
