| Molten Ash Location: US, California Posts: 44 | Billions of dollers, the largest agency ever created (Homeland security) and are we really safer? No. It's that simple, we're only better prepared, a reactionary kind of responce. With poverty getting worse and worse, we must start paying attention to our citizens instead of our fears. It's overly sad when you see one of the richest countrys in the world in this state; basically helpless. The bush administration ought to stop neglecting it's middle class/poor citizens, at anyrate-if he is re-elected there wont be much middle class left. Bush has wasted billions of dollers, and now we're in an even worse situation. It's a sad day for America-and Americans havn't realized it yet. ...weird |

I do see your point on the bush administration, however, and am in full agreement. Even John Kerry seems to think that it's George Bush, who is inviting terrorists to attack us. But I agree that Homeland Security, as an entity, is a colossal waste of money. It would have been better spent to update the computer systems of all law enforcement agencies, so the database of all suspected terrorists and other baddies, could be coordinated and dispersed as needed. I think Bush was determined to get his buddy Tom Ridge into his cabinet. I'll never understand that, except that Tom Ridge is very intelligent, but he manages to hide it very well. Why didn't they do something about the INS instead? That's where most of our problems with terrorists comes from. Putting it under the wing of Homeland Security has not improved it at all and it may be even worse now than ever. |

[commit terrorist acts]. And I hardly believe warmongoring and imposing paranoia and xenophobia on a people [like Bush has done] will help. |

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 3,799 | Not only are we less safe from terrorists, but Bush's policies have made us much more vulnerable to an economic catastrophe unimagined since 1929. Under Bush, the national debt has gone up about 20%, from 5.8 to 7 TRILLION dollars, or about $24,000 for each and every citizen of the U.S. The current market boom being trumpeted by the administration is nothing more than imaginary money being pumped into the economy and added to the deficit! This is an election year, folks, so don't look for anything to happen to the economy before the elections. The politicians will use every trick and scheme they can think of to hide the true condition of the economy, like Gray Davis did in California before he got booted from office in disgrace. Come next fall, we won't need to be screening for terrorists on airline flights, there won't be enough flights to be worried about. The real crash is coming after the election, and it will be a bloodbath. Al Qaeda is soon to be the least of our worries. | Molten Ash Posts: 106 | Bush will not do any better this time around than the last. The Democrats are determined to get rid of him and they'll stick together like bees on honey in order to accomplish it. Since the country is about equally divided between voters of both parties, it will be a race decided by either Independent voters and/or those Republicans who are so disillusioned by Bush's irresponsible fiscal policies, that they will sit this one out. I am of the opinion, that the latter will happen and that will give the White House to the Democrat. However, I am confident that Congress will remain Republican and the Senate will be even moreso than now. Sixty Republican Senators would destroy a Democratic President. |

If a Supreme Court Justice dies, and no replacement is made, is the reduced court's decisions valid? Can the President make an interim appointment? I can see all kinds of possiblities occuring. But hopefully, it will be Bush working with 60 Republican Senators. Then ALL his nominations can be secured. Problem is, I have heard Orin Hatch's name as a possible nomination for the Supremes. I don't really care much for Senator Hatch. |

Damn man, could it not just as easily be said that those are lies from republicans? It's real nice and easy to pass the blame to some people who are not even in control of any of the branches of govt. How in hell can you blame the economy on the democratic party? Are you truely that ignorant? As for Roe vs Wade, it'll never be overturned...there would be so much trouble from that. Ahhh...I have one more final question for Impenitent: Do you believe our current govt is a democracy? I also claim to have no great intellect, but it should be obvious to anyone that one who has a closed mind such as yourself does not posses one either. RATS, eh? I've never known a democrat who has refered to themselves as rats, look at the shit-storm they raised in the campaign when dubya's ad fast-flashed RATS on the screen...yeah, they seemed to like it. Nice to know you that don't believe we are a democracy... Oh yeah, offer some info on how the democrats wrecked the economy, please. | Sedimentary Rock Posts: 23 | Hah! You think you guys are safe, Australia even has anti-terrorist fridge magnets! Oh, and to Impenitent, if you are a Republican, and you "know history", doesn't that make you a better candidate than the so-called Dubya? I mean, I don't know how your legislative branch's elections work, but here in Australia, the politicians have to go through preselection, which is meant to weed out all the laughable ones. |

Bush has a 400 billion dollar budget, and his own accounting office is projecting ~3 trillion dollars in the next ten years added onto the existing debt if we continue the kind of spending we have today. Clinton balanced the budget where the past 4 Republican predecessors have failed. In his term, he also created an "untouchable" Social Security surplus that has vanished under the radar today because Congress has tapped into it to help defract costs from the balloning budget. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups |
