Of course the problem is that if you don't get insurance, then the rest of society has to pay for you when you collapse on the toilet from a myocardial infarction, are ruched to hospital in an ambulance by highly trained paramedics employing expensive equipment and drugs to keep you alive, are then treated by a team of highly qualified individuals at a hospital ER, who also use highly expensive drugs and equipment.
So, will obamacare allow us to get rid of the expensive ambulance, ER, or all those paramedics and equipment? No, of course not.

The major costs of the emergency services are establishing and manning them, and that has to be paid for whether anyone actually uses them or not. The equipment gets bought and the staff gets paid whether they are being used by uninsured or anyone else. To imply that we'll see significant savings in emergency service costs with obamacare is inaccurate.

I upped my income, up yours.

Strawman. I never said that Obamacare will lower costs. I said that it will make the right people pay the cost for their healthcare - namely the insurance companies who they have paid for an insurance company - or them themselves because they have paid a tax.

Next time if you want to try critiquing my argument, it would help if you actually bothered to read it.

Society may be formed so as to exist without crime, without poverty, […] no obstacle whatsoever intervenes at this moment except ignorance to prevent such a state of society.

Have fun in jail. Guess SOMEONE doesn't like democracy.

You know, the best part of this decision is the wailing and gnashing of teeth seen from the right-wing. It's absolutely hilarious. You people really feel betrayed by Roberts, even after all his other decisions that benefited your side (notably, Citizens United that actually allows the Republican Party to have a future in an America that is slowly but surely leaving it behind). Pretty sad, really.
Haven't you heard? Democracy only works when it's in your favor . When it doesn't you claim people had to have been paid off. It's the only logical conclusion to why things didn't turn out your way!

Here is my likee Minor for a couple of your posts.

It is selfishness that makes me favor car insurance for myself, a true no fault car insurance that if I don't have any and somebody hits me, then I get not a penny. I insure myself. If a person wants to take the risk of not having insurance and gets hit, his decision. Not much in that kind of insurance for lawyers though. Self-reliance is not real popular these days either.

The court's decision assures me that, as expected, my healthcare quality will be reduced and I'll pay more for what I have. The government is here to help me. Don't think I don't appreciate it.

I'm taxed if I don't have health insurance and if the insurance I have is too good, well, that's taxed for being too good. Swell. Liberty and justice takes a hike away from the people who've saved and planned for retirement. That great unknown, government intrusion is and will remain a destabilizing influence.
Cadillac plans will be taxed whereas they are not presently being taxed. That's how.

Roberts fucked Obama though. The commerce clause does not stand as being able to force a man to buy a thing based on it and if he doesn't he will be fined. No. The ruling plainly puts the mandate as a tax that is paying for the plan. They cannot force you to buy healthy stuff but they can tax you if you don't. Geez, is that really what it has done? Sounds preposterous. The court has exposed the plan for what it is, a way, a tax to pay the insurance companies.

Also the states can refuse to sign up and medicaid or any other fed aid cannot be withheld for not signing up. Well, I don't think that will stop the practice of witholding money from states that are not playing ball but if 25 states or so don't sign up....

Also the devolvment of all the insurance plans to the basic minimum coverage of the act will soon enough be the standard for all. Rationed minimum coverage. Lovely. Praise Jesus.
Do you mean low and middle class making less then 250,000 will be taxed? This can’t be…. because Obama said so, everyone remembers that statement where he said “they’re taxes won’t be raised a dime”. I wondered why they were using threshold amounts for filing taxes and then using percentages of income for penaltys that will raise annualy forever through the IRS.

Wow….but who is surprised, it’s becoming the norm to say one thing and mean something else isn't it....or actually outright lie? I wonder if all those who get a check each year won’t be getting one now? But hey….all is well for those 25 year olds living in Mom and Dads basement under their umbrella, or, until Obama decieds to change that next week. But that’s fine, they’ll be an adult soon, standing in a long line and paying their own way. That’s when they’ll start voting…LOL

Ohh, I almost forgot. Since Insurance companies have been doubling and tripling their premiums since the first whiff of Obamcare most bussinesses just won’t offer health insurance (benefit) anymore.
Say goodbye to your company platinum or gold plan and purchase your own TIN metal plan if you can afford it. Hell, if the employee get’s lucky, they might work for a company that will allow them to pick up the slack for the ones “laid off” so they and the company can keep the better plan. Sounds like a win/win to me….

I know it won’t help the unemployment numbers…but you gotta do what you gotta do for the betterment of all.

Yes, I'm sure all businesses will cease opperations within the week and only those with investments in gold will be able to get food within the month. Pretty soon, you won't be able to tell the difference between the US and a scene from Mad Max, and it's all because those who can afford insurance will have to pay a fine/tax less than the cost of insurance if they don't buy it in a year and a half.

Oh, you mean we aren't having a contest to see who can spin the most rediculous ACA Armageddon prediction? Sorry, it just seemed like that was what we were doing, what with 2.35 taxes on a .25 cent pack of JuicyFruit and all the employers laying off the masses stories...

    For one: They are not.

For two: Who cares? We get, y'know, modern medicine in exchange.

A man said to the universe:
    "Sir, I exist!"
    "However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
    A sense of obligation."

    How are they not?

Why say "who cares" if there not? What is this "modern medicine" in exchange....Is it something new we haven't heard of?

My taxes are not going up. When I am employed full time, I opt for insurance because it is the right and reasonable thing to do. And, if I am not emplyed full time in 2014, then I will qualify for Medicaid, which will mean I will not be subject to the penalty, as I will opt for the coverage offered. If I make less that 400% of the FPL, then I will qualify for a subsidy so that I am finacially able to satisfy the mandate. If I make more than that, I can fucking well afford the insurance I should carry and I will carry it, and my taxes will be...just what they are. The only people who will see a "tax" increase will be those too stupid and irresponsible to not put their fellow citizens at finacial risk, and the "tax" will help defray those costs.

I do pay more taxes for being "too stupid and irresponsible" to not quit smoking and I don't bitch about it. Those taxes help defray the medical costs that those of us who smoke add to the system. It is fair and right and I don't harp on about the government stealing my freedom of personal choice. I just pay the cost of a fucking pack of cigarettes, state and federal tax included.

Ohh....YOUR TAXES are not going up...so what about all those "young and middle class and poor" who can't get on Medicaid? So your just throwing those poor souls under the bus because your old and qualify?
