| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 3,154 | Kerry sure is naive: he blames his defeat on bin ladin http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4222647.stm Quote:
This man does not realize that he lost because he clung to the headlines, and because he was not enough of a defined person to be a clear alternative. | |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 374 | kerry lost becuase his candidacy was more uninspiring than gore's in 2000. The guy was facing arguably the most vulnerable president since Buchanan and he still could not come up with a decent alternative. If kerry had taken some decent policy stances with some concrete language, he'd would have beat the crap outa bush. | Navy Veteran Location: Texas Posts: 6,335 | Could it be that it wasn't so much Kerry, flawed as he was, rather it was the message and the baggage the Democrat Left would have brought to the table? Could it be that 60+ Million Americans looked at the over ridding message fo the left and rejected that in FAVOR of Bush? I think that's why Kerry lost. I don't think there is a Democrat that could survive the skewered Dem system of selection that could have won. So was it Kerry lost, or Bush beat him? I say Bush beat him Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route? |

| Pragmatic liberal Posts: 421 | I think there are a lot of reasons why Kerry lost, but mainly because he was the wrong candidate. It was easy for the Bush campaign to paint him as a New England liberal and as being a "flip flopper," even though I don't think either characterization is accurate. Had they nominated a candidate from the Midwest or the South who had a consistent record of opposing Bush's wreckless policies they would have fared much better in my opinion. Of the Democratic candidates that ran, I think the strongest candidate would have been Gen. Clark. And he probably would have gotten the nomination if he hadn't waited so long to jump into the race. Kerry’s a representative of business and military interests; he represented a leftist alternative as much as teddy Roosevelt was progressive ie not very. I know the backlash conservative movement likes to think of the democrats as an unmovable wall of socialistic nutters, but the truth is they’re the second arm of a two armed party of the rich. Look at their composition and their policies and it’s pretty obvious. | Sedimentary Rock Posts: 3 | Kerry was right Ladies and gentlemen, it was wet knickers time in the great and good United States. The "inviolable" and righteous great and good country was hurt by people who were annoyed with us and who were, like the Christian Right, out of their minds with righteousness. The spectre of more of the same from unshaven people scared the hell out of the great and good citizenry. That the other guy was stupid but convinced of HIS righteousness, was comforting to the great booboisie, to borrow a word from Mencken. The fact that Kerry had a smart, honest, powerful wife did not help in the land where the tattooed smile on a barbie face is comforting...nothing to fear from the astoundingly ordinary. |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 632 | Kerry lost because he didn't receive enough electoral votes to win. Saying anymore than that is just speculation, but--based on the average intelligence of the voters who voted for either of them, I feel confident in saying that Kerry lost because the average voter is a moron with no sense of class consciousness who is completely unaware of the class struggle that socialists democacy is designed to alleviate. |
