Wonderful. Now being accused is enough to get you put away for life. Is this still the USA? It sounds like the very thing we have fought against since the revolution just got taken away. Surely someone will challenge the constitutionality of this abomination.

Is anyone out there truly so blindly trusting that they do not believe this can be abused? What a giant step backwards. And don't forget how many of our politicians have already said it is OK to torture now.

Don't get anyone too pissed at you. There is now a whole new way to ruin lives now. How long before they have neighbors spying on each other and turning each other in?

See what a little fear will let happen in a greatly moral country?

Wat... this is the same country that introduced: prohibition, constitutionally protected the slave trade until 1808, treated black people as sub-humans who were worth only some 3/5 of a person and ghettoised them, committed acts of genocide against the indigenous population well into the second half of the 20th century, dropped two nuclear weapons, committed attrocities in Vietnam which led to the famed Nuremburg prosecutor Telford Taylor to call for American pilots in that war to be charged with human rights abuses, over-threw the democratically elected government of Iran in 1953, engaged in a massive political moral panic and witch-hunts in the same decade, staged a coup in Guatamala (in no small part because the government there held policies which threatened the interests of Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and the head of the CIA, and brother of John Foster, George Dulles (the former owning a law firsm which represented the United Fruit Company and the latter being a board member of same United Fruit Company)... ad infinitum.

The US has never been a 'greatly moral country', whether in terms of foreign affairs or indeed how it has treated sections of its own society. In fact, in its relatively short history it has been extremely destructive for all involved, provided, of course, that you weren't middle class, white and protestant. If you were in that latter group, then no doubt, the history of the USA was pretty peachey.

And let's be honest, compared to what the US has done in the past, this latest paranoia driven legislation is actually extremely benign, and not remotely comparable to Hitler's 1933 legislation as NoMoreDems-Reps so hysterically suggested.

Society may be formed so as to exist without crime, without poverty, […] no obstacle whatsoever intervenes at this moment except ignorance to prevent such a state of society.

It's a rare thread that begins with Godwin's Law. Usually it takes several posts before someone uses a Hitler analogy in their argument. Impressive.

So, will Obama's FEMA camps have "showers" and a commandant named Colonel Klink?

I guess I should have typed Sarcasm off after my moral country comment. I was trying not to be too obvious.

You do realize that all those bad things you mentioned were done via our Democracy and not via our Constitution?

But make no mistake, it is Foolish to say: well we did worse in the Past so these current transgression are no big deal! That will create a far more horrific society.

You must not know people from Countries like Russia, Serbia, Africa, Cuba, Mexico, or Israel. Because they will
tell you that America is a very good and Moral Country. But our society has definitely becoming very immoral as of
    late .

Regarding the difference between "our Democracy" and "our Constitution," can you give me a reference?

I have less faith in either ideal these days, and wish I could be reimbursed for their false advertising (just as former theists should be reimbursed
    by the temple, church, etc.).

Anyway, we're on a course that will make enemies. Look at it this way: You don't need to own a place if you can rob it, and you don't need to rob a place if you own it. Somewhere in that haze you'll find the United States government.

Regarding Goodwin's law. Nazi Germany is our most recent major power that most of the world agrees was evil. Many historians say we have to learn from what happened in that nation at that time.

I admit the comparisons are overdone since it is such a handy and heavy club with which to bash opponents. That being said, when we see those mistakes being repeated is it not prudent to point it out?

Remember cliches may get dull and repetitive but in many cases so does the truth. It has a habit of not changing.

Things like Slavery, and the Subsequent Jim Crow Laws
were unconstitutional. But our Democracy overrode the
Rule of Law (Our Constitution). As people get older an
wiser they understand the Nature of Humans, and to
prevent the inevitable inclination of Greed and
Selfishness, we need to agree on Fair and Benevolent
Laws that govern us all !

The Founding Fathers did that, by making America a democratic-REPUBLIC and
    creating the US Constitution.

The US Constitution has not been followed for Decades
so you really can't lose faith in something that wasn't
there, or was taken away from you !

Look at it this way: If you do things right the first time
you will have less Problems in the long run! Cheat, lie,
steal, kill, cut corners, be totally corrupt and you will have
many enemies and you will be the source of your Demise !
    i.e. America cerca 2005-2011.

No, they aren't. Slavery, for example, was enshrined within the constitution, which actively barred the abolition of the Slave Trade until 1808.

Plainly you champion a candidate who stands for upholding a document you have never bothered to sit down and actually read.
