| BANNED Posts: 302 | The attack on Iraq was somewhat beneficial to global peace. That is, if the United States had not seemed so threatening after attacking the armed country, then countries such as Libya would probably not have surrendered their nuclear weapons. Instead, more war may have started. Thus, if Iraq's attack does not seem like a sufficient deterrent, then Iran might be next. I also believe the continued occupation of Iraq is a suppressive action for further and more extensive terrorism by nation-states and factions. |

Iran does have contractual friends such as Russia and France who wish to keep the status quo, for there is alot of money in those long term contracts to build Nuke plants. I have heard saber rattling from the USA that Iran is harboring terrorists, lets hope the drums of war is only a feign so that the EU can have some leverage to diplomatically ease the pressure Iran is creating. Iran is doing the same dance that North Korea is, reach an agreement, then break it, then more negotiations - reach a diplomatic compromise then break it again. When we backed out of our support for the Shaw of Iran the Mid East began simmering in a religious stew which is now at a full boil. Hindsight is always 20/20.
