The Senate is becoming Fascist !

‘Indefinite Detention’ Bill Passes Senate 93-7 | RE Tea Party

This bill is very similar to the "Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of the
People and the State " that Adolf Hitler Passed to give him a license to
ransack peoples homes and jail them without a warrant or just cause!

This is what happens when you vote for more Government and stray away from
    the Constitution !

P.S. Next time Biden Calls the Tea Party folks Terrorist he might be able to jail
them ! Also, all those OWS Folks can now be jailed !

I will be doing as much as I can to fight against this Fascism for you.
I will be Voting for Ron Paul !......

Actually, it looks like it doesn't matter. The GOP won in spades in 2010 and promptly voted near unanimously for this bill. Apparently, when it comes to the old liberty versus security dillema, desire for big government in economics and social services doesn't have anything to do with being for or against big government in security matters.

The only 3 people who voted against the bill were democrats, i.e. the generally bigger government folks.

I sit in awe at your willingness to put yourself on the line and risk an entire hour or so of your life in defense of freedom.

Tea Baggers love to use simplistic terms, saying something is either "more government" or less. Ridiculous. The republicans - the party that you tea baggers vote on time and time again - are the people who hate the ACLU and voted for this bill.

Turns out this is more complicated than the OP made it out to be.

Ignoring a presidential veto threat, the Democratic-controlled Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly approved a massive, $662 billion defense bill that would require the military to hold suspected terrorists linked to al-Qaida or its affiliates, even those captured on U.S. soil, and detain some indefinitely.

The vote was 93-7 for the bill authorizing money for military personnel, weapons systems, national security programs in the Energy Department, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the fiscal year that began Oct. 1. Reflecting a period of austerity and a winding down of decade-old conflicts, the bill is $27 billion less than what President Barack Obama requested and $43 billion less than what Congress gave the Pentagon this year.
So it was latched onto a much larger bill, and in this final vote, to vote against the security provision would've been to vote against the whole defense budget. But there is an amendment process. In the absence of the just mentioned complication, where were the votes cast and by whom?:

The bill would require military custody of a suspect deemed to be a member of al-Qaida or its affiliates and involved in plotting or committing attacks on the United States. American citizens would be exempt. The bill does allow the executive branch to waive the authority based on national security and hold a suspect in civilian custody.

The legislation also would deny suspected terrorists, even U.S. citizens seized within the nation’s borders, the right to trial and subject them to indefinite detention. Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., had sought an exception to the provision for U.S. citizens, but her effort failed, 55-45.
Again, Democrats protecting personal liberty. Ok, well lets put a finer point on that:

Senator Feinstein’s amendment, which would have limited applicability of the NDAA’s detention provisions to terrorism suspects captured abroad, was rejected in a 45-55 vote this afternoon. There was a very lengthy debate on the adoption of this amendment yesterday afternoon (read the transcript here) and today.

U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote

So again, the democrats were protecting liberty, for the most part. However around half a dozen Dems voted against the amendment, and around half a dozen Reps voted for it.

Of course, if the minority had felt strong enough about it, they could've filibustered the whole defense budget until the detention part was removed, so they couldn't have felt that strong about it.

Yes, well you almost never stand your ground. You dive in, post some hyperbolic comment, and then dissappear, answering few or no refutations. Debating us is probably a lousy way of trying to get Ron Paul elected, but nevertheless, you aren't much for defending "freedom" in discussion.

AGREED. My son asked me about Nazi Germany. He wondered how a whole country could be turned into bad people. I told him that they were scared into it. The similarites of the new Tparty and Germany during the 1030's is what is scary to me. Scapegoating, fear mongering, accusations of lack of patriotism if you disagree with them, using propaganda media (Fox and talk radio) while accusing all other media of being biased against them. Don't just use Nazi as a dirty word, read "Mein Kamph" and follow the new rigth wing's recent philosophies.

I wonder, are Muslims the new "Jews"? I think so.

I don't like either the Nazi Party or the Tea Party, but the former was certainly far worse, and to call them overall equivalent is obvious idiocy.

The Tea Party works through democratic means, and at least when it comes to the person with most votes winning in districts, it venerates democracy. Furthermore, it has no desire for mass slaughter of any sort nor is it very racist (Cain anyone?) nor does it have designs for the territorial expansion of the United States. Tea partiers are foolish idiots whose ideology has made them shallow and blind, but no, They. Are. Not. Nazis. Duh.

No, I just have realized that in many cases, it is pointless to repeat myself just to have
people try to Spin things around so they can feel good about supporting their Corrupt
anti-Freedom (as Defined by the Constitution) Party.....

For example anyone who thinks it's ok to Force others to work for free, Pay for
other peoples needs(Without Special circumstances, i.e. Prisoners), and take on
burdens of others , is a kin to Slavery(Anti-Freedom)!

Yet DEMS want the Medical industry, Drug industry, and American Tax Payers to give Free
Drugs,Treatment, and Medical Insurance to people who can not provide it for themselves!

So I will continue to not address the repeated minutia, but I will address any good points
that are made by all !

In other words, you assume your right about everything so you usually don't bother trying to defend anything you say.
