Politics used to be a big rush for me. Now I read the Constitution and almost cry we've come so far away from it. The people that founded this nation were just as rich, poor, healthy, sick, educated, ignorant, had horses and didn't (or transportation), owned property and didn't, took good care of natural resources and didn't---as we do and they didn't find it necessary to get into everyone's lives unless there was a viral affect. I'm also thinking the President-position has become a mere placeholder for people who once inspired the nation to be independent and worthy of the respect of other countries. We've lost that.

But he won't, because while Paul may well be the President of teenagers on the internet, basement dwellers and a few libertarians on the fringe everybody else has had more than one high school term looking at economics and 20th century history. Don't get me wrong, there are a very large number of Ron Paul fans, but 16 year olds can not vote.
Yeah keep telling yourself that ...

I think you know what I meant and I'm not so sure women should have the vote, or people under 45...make that 55.

I dunno, maybe because a disproprtionate number of them are high school drop outs, with relatively education in history or economics? I think I already covered that.

And I don't need to keep telling myself that. The facts tell me that. You know, like the fact that Paul has already lost... twice. The fact that in the polls he has a grand total of 8 points.

Society may be formed so as to exist without crime, without poverty, […] no obstacle whatsoever intervenes at this moment except ignorance to prevent such a state of society.

Not so sure? Clarify something for me...Are you against a government of the people, by the people, and for the people or are you for a government of only a select few?

I know exactly what you meant, and your Neanderthal views on female and age-based suffrage confirm it.

Make that female Neanderthal, if you please. Do you ever watch Jay Leno go out on the street and question people about government? I know it's anecdotal, but it's pretty shocking. I have no objection to informed voters voting their dearly held opinions, but the truth is many voters are punching buttons with abandon and just vote the party ticket, because mom or dad did... And read the constitution? Not ever! It's shaping up to be a great country, isn't it? All that voting going on....
    One more thing:
"If you weren't a liberal when you were 21, you have no heart. If you aren't conservative by the time you're 45, you have no mind." Alexis De Tocqueville.

Evidence seems to suggest Tocqueville is wrong.

A man said to the universe:
    "Sir, I exist!"
    "However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
    A sense of obligation."

To what evidence do you refer?
