I am of course thankful he didn't- butthen i hated history lessons if they didnt involve egyptians or cavemen lol |

During the height of the cold war there were more communist idealists in the US then there were in all of Russia. Sometimes tyranny is mostly tyranny for everyone. Starboy |

![]() Fyrdman Location: Middlesbrough UK Posts: 4,174 | Nuke North Korea? When did we start letting complete idiots have such a strong voice, and more importantly, who takes this nut seriously? I'd like to highlight 2 points on this possible action that should nullify any thoughts of agreement with her a) Mutually Assured Destruction - Speaks for itself, look it up if you really have too b) China - Is anyone dumb enough to believe China is going to sit back while a neighbour, whoever that neighbour is, is nuked? As far as I know, China doesn't like NK as it's too unpredictable and giving the US a reason to get into East Asian politics, which it wants to dominate (if it doesn't already). Even so, just the environmental problems caused for China, as well as SK (if anyone is still alive after NK nukes it), Japan (which NK would likely also nuke), Taiwan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos etc, would piss them off. China is, if you don't know, a nuclear state, as well as able to get into space. If the Chinese don't currently have the ICBM's to bomb the shit out of the US in response it wouldn't take a giant leap for it to do so. And if it didn't take military action it could always ruin the US economy as payback by not buying your currency (along with Japan, which after being nuked by NK couldn't afford to anyway). Nuclear attacks on any state would also result in international sanctions, Europe could stop US imports, we already produce everything we need except for oil, which we can get from the Russians and Middle East. Really, I hope nobody in the White House considers her a wise commentator on international politics. I think her world knowledge (and the interviewers for that matter) was summed up nicely in these lines... "The Iraqi people didn’t seem to have that great a Christmas. "That’s right! But they’ll be opening Christmas presents soon enough," she said. "And then they’ll be happy. We’ll see, but things are going pretty well, and in most cases better than expected. We’re going to transform the Middle East by the time Bush leaves office, or it will be within shouting distance of there. I think Arabs flying planes into our skyscrapers will be as likely as a Japanese kamikaze pilot." Most Iraqi's don't celebrate Christmas dumbass, I think it'l take a little more than opening presents to alleviate the suffering and humiliation of Iraq, and if she thinks these problems will be nearly fixed in 4 years she really is in for a shock. Oh, and on the Hitler business above, Hitler made many of his intentions clear in Mein Kampf, including eastwards expansion and ethnic cleansing of Germany, he just didn't say how he'd accomplish this. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. Winston Churchill |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 3 | Coulter's opinions and writing have always been marred by a complete lack of nuance and tact, but isn't this interview in unusually poor taste? Clinton was a very good rapist, the Middle East being GWB's bitch, Al Franken is physically repulsive? If this is the level the political discourse has sunk to in the US, I'm glad to be on the other side of the ocean. On an unrelated note, I'm a newcomer to this forum and still unfamiliar with the culture here, but I can't help wondering why so many of you are feeding the trolls over and over again. In almost every thread there is someone saying something absolutely ridiculous, which is being taken seriously, resulting in a long flamefesting thread with benefit to no one. When someone compares GWB to Hitler, for example, he should no longer be paid any attention, in my opinion. There can come nothing good out of arguing with someone like that. |

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 9,589 | We supplied the North Koreans with food aid for years. I'm sure she would call that helping those who didn't want help. Her screed about tsunami victims not wanting help is just more Coulter crap - a lie held up by a half-truth. It isn't worth discussing, like most of her nonsense. Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, just held free and fair elections, electing secular leaders, by the way. They deserve our help, while Coulter just heaps insults and scorn. She is beneath contempt, even as a carnival side show, which is about what she is these days. "You can't help people who don't want to be helped." Do you really think that the tsunami victims don't want help? That is worse than ludicrous. Rick "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." Sinclair Lewis |

Don't know about her, but I'd call it supplying aid to someone who turns round and blackmails you. In other words, betrayal. "Her screed about tsunami victims not wanting help is just more Coulter crap - a lie held up by a half-truth. It isn't worth discussing, like most of her nonsense." India refused aid. It's a fact. India even barred the non-government organizations from entering the disster-hit areas and left its people to fend for themselves. I feel sorry for them, but their government refused help. What can we do? "Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, just held free and fair elections, electing secular leaders, by the way. They deserve our help..." Indonesia is one of the most corrupt nations in the world whose nationals (predominantly Malay andf muslim) have had a long history of pillaging, discriminating, murdering and raping the Chinese population. But hey we still offered to help and its government refused. What can we say? |
