Perry also said, on camera, that "we teach creation and evolution in Texas. We think you are smart enough to know which is right." The truth is that we don't teach both in Texas simply because not even the Governor is smart enough to know what is true. Of course, it isn't for lack of trying to get creationism into our schools by the scientific illiterate christians, but they are still working on it.

In 1987, Perry voted for a $5.7 billion tax increase proposed by Republican governor Bill Clements. Perry also supported Al Gore in the 1988 Democratic presidential primaries and chaired the Gore campaign in Texas.
It is unclear how deep Perry's religious convictions are or whether he is using the Christian Dominionists to stir up his base, just the way he did with his crazy talk about secession. Either way he is a dangerous buffoon.
