totally agree sir... with some conditions...

get rid of all the social welfare programs OR, at least, deny access to these until a certain period of time (during which they are paying into the system through employment taxes etc) has passed, say like 3-5 years...

Mexico is actually closer to Jamestown than the Netherlands are to New York. But it didn't stop the Dutch from coming and creating New Amsterdam, did it now?

Of course, nobody really complained about immigrants. Sure, there were times when the pampered kings of Europe sent colonial forces to kill each other because of petty disputes. But the real colonists just quietly built up their lands, worked the fields, and chopped wood.

funny thing....
all the folks who want major immigration controls cry that they are trying to preserve 'america's way of life' or 'our jobs' or standard of living - the absolute QUICKEST way to degenerate our standard of living and force us into becoming a '3rd world' nation is to apply the protectionist practices you desire - learn about economics folks, then speak... would you dare have the arrogance to tell a brain surgeon how to hold his scalpel? if not, then why do you think you are qualified to speak rationally about economic matters?

problem isn't just limited to this forum - you all are voters, and even though a president might 'know' the correct response to a certain economic question, he will pander to the irrational voters so that he can get (re)elected.... our government has a built in self-destruct button, and it is us.

As an Hispanic myself (#1) and a seventh generation Californian (#2) now living in Missouri I find it is disheartening to see the great state of California becoming so disrupted by the gross alteration of the public systems of the state.
Add to the fact that the fringe minority liberal democrats have run California ragged and you can see why Arnold Schwarzenegger has begun bypassing the state legislature!
