It is a travesty, and a shame. But we are not the image makers of humankind, nor is my government responsible to police the world.

Democrats and Republicans are the same color, of different shades, and that color is shit brown. They are both globalist parties who only seek to gain financing and backing when it suits them, and leave the ones that don't swinging in the wind.

snouter's post was aimed at painting liberals as being sympathetic to people who practice genocide. my response highlighted that republicans have a solid record of not giving a damn. and if i toss in regimes like pinochet, saddam and apartheid, it's clear that the republicans have absolutely no moral highground to stand on.

Well nobody has really given a shit about what happens in Africa. When something blows up in Africa, the West says "those Africans have been killing each other since 1AD".

What people don't realise is that the Africans didn't actually start hating each other until colonialism.

For example, in Rwanda, we have the Hutu and Tutsi "races". They lived in general harmony for a thousand or so years, until Belgium came and invaded them. The Belgians, obssessed with race theories, dictated that the Tutsi race was superior, and start promoting racial violence and hatred across the board.

Then after Rwandan independence, the Belgians and French began to support the notion of Hutu superiority. And from the 1950s, tensions began to grow, until the extermination of 1 million Tutsis in 1994.


Africa is the shitting hole for the West. Everyone likes to take a dump in it, then blame the Africans for the mess.

WTF? Belgium didn't place the minority ethnic group in power for reasons of racial superiority. They did it for the same reasons all colonial powers did similar things; divide and conquer. The ethnic groups were so busy hating each other they could bear, even like having the colonial government there as overlord so they could arbitrate the conflict. It's a tactic replicated by all imperial powers.

Both Bush and lately Blair have expressed keen interest in helping Aftica. Last year Bush pledged billions to erradicate AIDS specifically in Africa, Powell visited more of these countries than any other SoS. The Europeans have that past colonial experience which cuts both ways; they are patrons who have their doors opened, and they are the despised foreigner source of all that ails them.

That's only one of the reasons. Race theory was very big in Europe during the 1800s - the first Europeans in Rwanda were racial theorists. Belgian guys armed with strings and rulers, measuring the negro heads to work out which African race was superior ("superior" meaning bearing similarities to white men).

The Tutsis, of course, were seen to be more European because they were taller and lighter. Thus they became the "superior race" while the short stumpy Hutu race became the "inferiors".

It wasn't until the 1950s that Belgium decided the Hutus were the master race of Rwanda, and the Tutsis were inferior. So the Hutus began attacking the Tutsi race for the next 40 years, resulting in the 1 million genocide in '94.
