When discussing global issues like the Cold War and the threat of Communism back in the early 70's, I used to say I would stop worrying about it as soon as I saw a McDonalds appear in "Red" China. Well, NOW they have McDonalds AND a big Microsoft research facility there, so I ain't worried. I suspect the powers that be stopped worrying about that a LONG time before the rest of us did, but it was convenient for them to let us fret about it. That doesn't mean I'm not worried, but the concern is now how we act regarding terrorists (a group NOT usually associated with international power brokers), the envoronment and the economy. IMO Bush is NOT the man for these jobs. However, I am hopeful he will not be allowed to go too far by the globally influential. I am not kidding myself here. I believe there are powers in the world we know nothing about yet must assume they are there and invisible for a reason. That of course IS an assumption but one I came to by logic and observation. I hope for the best. Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

However, I belive the next thing which we must do is save us from ourselves. We're in massive debt, we pander to global conglomerates, we're loosing money-civic organizations are at an all time low, the voice which the people of the United States are supposed to have is getting smaller and smaller. Imperialism reeks from the deeds which we are involved in, Pat Bucanan the staunch conservitive is even saying that we're becoming an imperialistic empire, we have NO real international threats however our millitary industrial complex is getting bigger and bigger wilst our domestic front is getting frivolous, an amendment which would acually bar a minorities rights is in progress (gays), both parties are inflated with greed and serve no better purpose than to decide on issues which will better serve their corperate contributers. What is happening to America? The gap between poor and rich is the highest in America, than in all westernized countries. We make, on average, less money than all westernized counties. We work more houres than almost all westernized countries. The top 10 percent of highest income Americans own about 95 percent of the wealth. Terrorism is hyped beyond belief. If we would just tackle a few internation problems which we contribute, this would drastically cut the chances of another terrorist attack-UNLIKE millitary occupation, which rouses millitias and sparks even new terrorist organizations. The "public owned" air waves do not belong to us. We cannot get our voice heard on any major network on television. The media is now more consolodated than ever, with only a few owners of practically all the nations networks, and even newspapers. An act has acutally passed through congress which allows the government to spy on any citizen(Patriot act), thus abandoning the main principals of our country, and effectively tearing the very fabricof our so-called "democracy". Twenty-five percent of the worlds prisoners are in United States prisons. A huge chunk of our workforce is behind bars. We have more than 3 million people incarcerated. This is MORE than the Soviet Union once had, and if you remember was a common critique during the cold war. We consume more than anyone by massive margins, we pollute more than anyone by massive margins. More people within the United States are on anti-depressants than any other country. We put criminals who rob banks in jail for life, and all the wile a corperate criminal, for stealing ten+ times the ammount of cash gets a mere two years in a hospitable jail. I could go on. We are in deep shit my friend, we're a nation in distress and we don't even know it yet. ...weird

That's pretty ignorant. I wasn't fond of John Kerry, however he is quite the capitalist. If you haven't noticed, his wife is a owner of Heinz, a multi-national corpeartion. Sorry to break it to you, but communists don't own corperations. ![]() ...weird

Kerry's wife, the bizarre leftist freak Teraysa, is ideologically a commie, the wealth she inherited notwithstanding. And just because Kerry also married into wealth several times and has a family who accumulated some wealth as a result of the Opium Wars, that doesn't mean they advocate capitalist policy. Quote:
In practice, Commies advocate state ownership of corporations. Quote:

However, Muslim Terrorists now have more to worry about, their defenders like the ACLU notwithstanding. <!--QuoteBegin-JustinGilmore, Twenty-five percent of the worlds prisoners are in United States prisons. ![]() Fyrdman Location: Middlesbrough UK Posts: 4,153 | I'll do my best to conform to etiquette in replying to Snouter here, but it's gonna be difficult.... 1) In regards to the Teresa Kerry point, please demonstrate how she is ideologically communist. As a 2nd year politics student with a particular interest in Marxism, I would like to see how the hell someone could be bourgeous, which she very much is, and a communist. 2) In practice, communists do not advocate state control of corporations. Do I have to get out my Capital for you? Communists advocate a proletarian government taking control of the means of production from the bourgeous and inevitable counter-revolutionary forces. That would be the intermediary, socialist period. Once that has been achieved, the means of production would be returned to the proleteriat. Thats all, anything beyond that is where we start getting "x-communist" divisions of theory. 3) I'd disagree about the primary malignant forces, I would say that fascism, stalinism and neo-colonialism were (are) the prime dangers, however I'll deal with your two. Soviet-style communism is Stalinism, so we can agree there, except that it is very much dead. Fabianism is not a threat to anything, it is one possible route to a better world, although I'd argue that it is too self absorbed, and more importantly is also dead. 4) These "illegal invaders" are in fact a part of capitalism. A free market means the free flow of goods and labour. If you're anti-capitalist and support protectionism, thats your opinion, but don't rant and rave about so-and-so not being capitalist when protectionists arn't either. Muslims arn't malignant occupiers. If I look down my road I see succesful Muslim business's providing me with my groceries, accessories for my bike, teaching martial arts and, most importantly, providing me with post-piss up takeaways. There are a minority of Muslims who reject western culture, and want to see it thrown out of the middle east or perhaps even the world entirely. But they are the same as you, just with a different creed to lead them to spreading misery. 5) The turnout was better, was is trend I hope to see continue. But as both candidates must pander to those who control the wealth of the US and beyond, and not listen to the voters themselves, this election still represents a win for big business. 6) Imperialism is wrong because the empires always collapse and everyone ends up in the shit because of them. Look at Rome and Europe. Oppression throughout Europe for 450 years, then it falls apart and we have the dark ages. European empires collapse throughout Africa and SE Asia and we have dictatorships and starvation. 7) I don't believe Justin was suggesting there wasn't a jihad being waged, but that it was being hyped up for the benefit of leaders who are too weak to deal with the real problems, who must instead be subserviant to the real power in the world, money. And I personally would suggest that we do not fight those who wage jihad with conventional methods because that is inevitably a route to failure. Guerillas, which is what they are, always rely on public support to maintain them and to help to to victory. For every innocent killed, the guerrillas gain support. Read up "Guerrilla Warfare" by Guevara for such tactics. Oh, and this jihad is not newm it has been ongoing since, roughly, WWII. It's never been a real threat before, and it isn't much of one now. 8) Marriage existed long before conservative Christians gave it such narrow definitions to support their perverted, anal bigotry (hey, irony). I thought the purpose of the US being a liberal democracy rather than a fully representative democracy was to prevent mob rule and minority persecution, so why do you support the persecution of this minority? 9) It could be the result of IQ issues, or it could be the result of government undermining the labour movements that secured all of the workers rights that the rest of the western world has, which are crucial to our higher quality of life. 10) Terrorism is not a way of life for Muslims. Warfare is a way of life for someone born into war without respite. Stop attacking the Muslim world and perhaps the next generation won't become the next wave. The same shitty arguments you make were made against Catholics in N. Ireland by the right wing protestants for years, but now looks whose fighting for peace and whose trying to kill it? The right wing proddies again! 11) You're dodging his point about the airwaves being owned by a tiny minority. Nobody deserves exploiting, regardless of their circumstances. And that includes you, who appears to be well exploited by the beholders of the status-quo. 12) Governments seek to maintain their position, and if they can use these laws against lawful citizens to do so they will. In the UK the Thatcher government had MI5 list all prominent union leaders and supporters blacklisted, so they couldn't get a job. They infiltrate legal left and right wing groups that hinder their interests, like environmentalists, and try to cause disruption in these groups. I dount the US government is any more trustworthy. 13) What is it when people are forced to work for someone against their will, and accept any, if any at all, wages in return? That's right, slavery. And what is happening to a fair slice of US inmates? They're being put into work with companies like Boeing. Hey, you really are turning into the new Rome. In conclusion, you are a brainwashed, brown nosing, jingoistic, biggoted little shit. If there's a hell, which for some strange reason I think you might believe there is, you're gonna burn for your false idolitry, worshipping Bush and the empire he wants to build. Oops, broke the etiquette, my apologies, but I just said what you (well the sane posters) were thinking. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. Winston Churchill |
