Blackwell was put on notice by Columbus Attorney Cliff Arnebeck and others who filed the King Lincoln suit contending illegal discrimination against black and young voters in 2004. The suit is based on widespread allegations involving mal-distribution of voting machines, dubious vote counts, race-based voter suppression and many other questionable occurrences before, during and after the 2004 balloting. The suit asked Judge Algernon Marbley of the federal district court in Columbus to order Blackwell to force Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections (BOEs) to preserve ballots and other election-related materials so the full extent of the allegations could be proven.

They were ready to destroy the rest of the ballots (Blackwell had already destroyed some prematurely) before the judge put a halt to it.

This is actually a conspiracy theory I believe. The OH vote seemed shady.

Why would anyone rig the recount, UNLESS THEY ALREADY KNEW THAT THE ELECTION ITSELF HAD TO BE KEPT FROM EXAMINATION. One does not rig a recount one believes will confirm the official results. One rigs a recount one KNOWS will contradict the official results. Therefore these convictions prove that the elections workers KNEW that Ohio's Presidential vote actually went to John Kerry. Which means Kerry actually won the election. And THAT means that Bush is in the oval office illegally. He is NOT the legal President of this nation. And THAT means that Americans are not legally or morally obligated to obey his dictates or to pay the huge costs of Bush's various wars.

Not only did Blackwell lose his own campaign for governor....it looks like he may be sent up the river for election FRAUD:

The assumption is widespread that the decision to consciously designate test precincts, rather than choose them at random, must have been at least tacitly approved by Secretary of State Blackwell. <snip> Board of Elections records in Fairfield County document that when the recount was not matching thus mandating a full handcount under Ohio law, the Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell's office recommended that Sam Hogsett be brought in to deal with the discrepancies between the official count and the recount. After Hogsett arrived and took charge of the recount as a private ES&S technician, the vote matched perfectly for the first time.
