Kerry Concedes; Bonesman Holds Up His End of Deal
Unchallenged election results are proof of Left-Right connection

Kerry concedes; Bush re-elected
November 3, 2004

BY CAL WOODWARD AND RON FOURNIER

WASHINGTON-- President Bush won a second term from a divided and anxious nation, his promise of steady, strong wartime leadership trumping John Kerry's fresh-start approach to Iraq and joblessness.

After a long, tense night of vote counting, the Democrat called Bush Wednesday to concede Ohio and the presidency.

Kerry ended his quest, concluding one of the most expensive and bitterly contested races on record, with a call to the president shortly after 11 a.m. EST, according to two officials familiar with the conversation.

The victory gave Bush four more years to pursue the war on terror and a conservative, tax-cutting agenda-- and probably the opportunity to name one or more justices to an aging Supreme Court.
We are friggin doomed, dude.

Doomed it not the word for it. Consigned to hell for four years is closer to the truth. If there is anything left of your economy in four years time I will be really surprised, Georgy will run it into the ground to pay for the war which just might be closing up at the end of this term.....poor Hillary is all I can say she will need to try to get everything back on it s feet.

I find it funny how all the "intellectuals" around me call the public majority stupid or blind. As one of my intellectual Friends stated. The Idiots have spoken. I find this a strange contradiction because its well known that the majority of poor and uneducated people vote democratic. I also find it interesting at least in my area that the younger more naive crowd where the intense democratic supporters. I was taught that thinking your smarter or more intellectually gifted than someone else was a sure sign of opposite being true.

Tyranny triumphs temporarily. Be on the lookout for opportunities to resist the evil that is pacing towards us, stalking our families and incomes with greedy eyes.

Nearly half of America has taken a stand against the evil of GW Bush. Don't lose heart.

I actually found it rather uplifting and inspiring that so many of the younger generation voted for Kerry. It shows that the indoctrination of your youngsters is not going so well and they are actually starting to think about things in the world.
Give it a few more generations of Americans and there may yet be hope. Especially if we can get a bit of Atheism injected into the population to counterbalance all this extreme religious right claptrap.

those of the younger generation are jackasses who are more concerned with the shape of their pants than the leader of the world.

what i don't understand is that the ballots haven't even been completely counted in ohio.. why in the fuck isn't kerry willing to wait until they're counted???

and, now congress is much more socially conservative and fascist.. bush doesn't have to worry about being reelected.. he's clearly going to view this as a green light to push us even further towards authoritarianism..

almost half of the country didn't even vote for bush.. we deserve a better system.

four more years of fascist rule, tossing our futures down the tubes... i wonder what love i'll have left for "my country".

hope for america...

So is Our Best Plan...to sit around here postwhinning about it..........or do we have any idea as to where to go from here?

Democrats are friggin cooked man, they need to do 3 things to keep their Party from fully sinking.

1 - Totally cut the Word Homosexuals from the word Democrat

2 - Never mention the 2nd amendment again....Ever

3 - Distance themselves from the ACLU quickly.

dude.. the election was yesterday - allow us to grieve in our state of shock and despair.

the democrats were offering a worldview that is tolerant, focused on concensus, and one where we are not war-mongers. apparently a majority of this country wants the opposite.

how can the democrats, or ANY other party, compete with fascism?

despite the imperfections of a parlimentary system, it does seem to better represent the public - and at a minimum, it forces concensus.. does anyone here think that there will be any attempt at concensus building now that bush has been elected and right-wing republicans have picked up several seats in congress?

Kerry will return to his old job in Washington, not backing up the speech by John Edwards that every vote counts and every vote will be counted.

The Republicans gain control of the House. (at least for the next couple of years) and so will have little trouble getting the next Supreme Court Justice appointed, and little trouble standing off any notion for impeachment.

Reaching out to the Democrats will not be mandatory.

Questionable laws concerning religious goals will be rewarded to his support group.

Although it is clear by the numbers that at least 49 percent of the voting public is not in agreement with some of the Bush goals or his management skills, it matters not anymore. He has stated they have the right not to agree but their views are not going to change his mind.

I do not know what response this election outcome will generate globally, but global unity could result in troubles for the United States of Bushism.

Those who must deal with defeat in this election should not just cry and complain about it, or try to suggest some foolish conspiracy or manipulation. They need to get better organized. Learn how to play the game. But not sure if it will do much good? We gave him enough rope to hang everyone.

Let us hope Bush uses his historical moment in history wisely.
Whatever happens, at least we can say that Americans got off their couch and voted for it, those voting booths were packed.

Technosoul.

This election has been a heartwrencher. Some are happy, some are very disappointed.

I'm a conservative, and I take no joy in the distress the Dems are feeling.

If you remember, I have always counted on the center of America. Whoever comes closest to the center, even with bumps and bruises will carry their vote. To make any change you have to move the center, Kerry didn't.

Kerry dealt with the fringe. I do agree, it is now time to reflect morn the loss, then work on healing this nation, then heal the relationships with the rest of the world.

I edited for this

I do think that the new voter recruitment drive by both parties, and their active involvement in the election process can only be seen as a positive, which will be a turning point in American politics..

I think more than half didnt vote for Bush.

Greg Palast, today Election 2004: Shoplifting the Presidency?

I voted for Kerry and I take serious offense to him rolling over like this. I thought both he and Edwards were lawyers! How did they ever win a single case? God damn Edwards for saying late last night that every vote counts. Lying sack of shit! Florida and Ohio can still go either way after absentee and provisional votes are counted. I am ashamed that Kerry has played us. I did my part now count the votes.

I just watched most of Kerry's concession speech, and my level of respect for him as a man has increased.

If you haven't seen it read the transcript.

Bush won by a clear majority in the popular vote.

Winning Ohio is impossible for him. It is HIGHLY unlikely that of the ~200,000 votes more than 50% will go to him. (and he needs 90% or something)

Governing while fighting the republicans in the House, the Senate etc will make his goverment ineffective.

Basically Kerry did the math and came to the conclusion that a) it was unlikely he would win. b) if if he did win, it would not be able to govern normally.

It was the wise choice.

Jeez, I remember very distinctly, four years ago, all these "non-intellectuals" (as I guess you'd call them) hooting at the whole idea majorities.

My how times change, eh?

I just don't understand why people consider Kerry as being better than Bush. He's really not - neither of them seem able to keep a good economy, both want to take away state's rights on social issues, and both support war and interventionism. What's the difference - one can say "nuclear?"

Are you aware that the Republicans challenged many voters and those were given Provisional Ballots?
The Dems wanted a huge turnout, the Repugnants are better off with fewer voters. The vast majority of provisional and absentee voters are Dem. We didnt want to trust our most cherished possession, our singular vote, to be eaten by by a computer with no paper trail. We do not trust the whores and pirates who own America. God will not continue to bless America if most Americans choose slime like Bush to lead them. I hate what the outcome of this election is looking like. I have to hope Americans are not this stupid and evil to choose this bumbling, illiterate, murderer. Its one thing for crooked Supreme Court Justices to appoint him, another for him to be chosen by the majority of Americans. If this is what America wants, I may have to look for a new home.
