| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,936 | Today is Monday and on Tuesday we vote, hours away. Not much time to talk everyone in to changing their votes (LOL). I wonder just how the news will cover the voting this year, will they still conduct exit polls and keep us undated or must they wait until all the states have voted before saying anything? Some of the new touch tone voting machines can give us instant results as they come in, will that be made public? Will we have "outside" monitors standing around to see if things are fair? Will we have any disturbances or fights at the voting places? Will the elections be as close as the news polls have made us think? What will be some of the more interesting Props to win and in what state? Tomorrow and the following day we will know. |

Been wondering that myself. Don't suppose we could make this board a trifle less americanocentric ... No, I guess not. In the meantime, a quotation: <!--QuoteBegin-Comrade Stalin It does not matter how people vote. Keep in mind two things about this forum. One, there are plenty of other things to debate, it's only this election and the players have preoccupied most of us. There ARE other topics. I for one will actually be happy when this whole friggin show is over. Two, just because election day is tomorrow doesn't mean everything will suddenly stop. No matter who wins we will have a LOT of things to talk about regarding current events and the mess we are in thanks to cousin Georgie. We can either watch Bush screw things up even MORE or we can nitpick and overanalyse everything Kerry does to clean up the mess. Plenty for all here. :) I agree that we should make things a bit more global in scope, but we have so few non-Americans here there may be a problem with supply. You guys will have to work overtime to keep the rest of us supplied with our daily anxiety rations. But again I agree. The world is a big place and regardless of what Rummy says we have to SHARE the world with everyone else. In fact, I'm tired of playing games with the right wingers. Let's get an Al Queda supporter in here. Of course, Sean would need more server space just for Butterface. Hmmm, maybe not a good idea. Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots. | ||

Remember 2000? In the midst of all that abject hanging-chad confusion Canada held a federal election that went as smooth as silk. That's because they use Victorian technology -- votes are obvious and easy to count, and fraud is hard to pull off. | Moderator/nobody Posts: 1,566 | Well the clock is ticking, it's 4:00 here on the east coast. In 4 more hours we should begin to get news from our statewide issues. I don't suppose the networks will make any kind of predictions, In fact - if the race is as close as it seems - they shouldn't, until the polls close in Hawaii. We may not have a tentative winner until the morn - thats the best case scenario - if discrepancies at polling places occur, it could be longer.. Live Long and Prosper (Genetics and Capitalism) |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 313 | I saw some of the polling station on CNN. No wonder so many people in the U.S. don't vote. Why would they want to stand in line for so long just to get one vote. Don't take this wrong, I am happy for those who are willing to stand in line for hours just to vote but I could see how this would turn away a lot of people. They should have more polling stations open. |
