| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,936 | Prime Time news is doing some stories about our vets who returned from Iraq injured. Although they can get medical care they are otherwise left to fend for their self, and so many of the heros or our war on terrrorism have ended up homeless because they cannnot get jobs (legs or arms blown off in the war). One legless vet is living in his car because he can no longer afford an apartment and the military has totally ruin his credit rating because they want him to repay a reinlistment bonus he had already been given but now cannot pay back (nor can he reinlist). It is a shame how the Bush government has abandoned our Vets who no longer can serve because they lost their legs or had other injuries. They came home to worse then nothing, not even a parade in their honor, and until tonight the news media has turned a blind eye upon those we no longer care about, the homeless heros. |

I'm not sure if the US army does, but in most countries soldiers have the option to buy insurance. That way if they die then the family gets lots of money. Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you. |

This story was about the ones injured only, some of the perhaps single men without a family (wife and kids). The government might still have grants that can be applied for but no sure how long you must serve first and those grants are mostly for schooling. And lots of red tape and waiting tro get a grant effected. I know a few Vets from Nam who are still trying to collect money because they suffer from the delayed effects of agent orange, you would be surprised how much trouble they are having according to those personal reports I get from the ones I know in person. Example: When you go in to be interveiwed for payment they have a big map of Nam and you must point out what location in Nam you were assigned at and on what date you were there, so they can check their records to see if agent orange was used at that spot in Nam on or around the dates you say it happened. If you cannot recall just where you were fighting at in Nam and when, you are out of luck for treatment or payments. Technosoul. |
