OK you win - DeLay's a skunk. Or, have I said something along those lines before. Anyhow it looks (if theses clips are accurate) like the DeLay dam is about to burst.

Maybe the surge will be enough to wash out quite a few of the top tree dwellers - that is esteemed and tenured professional politicians.
I wouldn't bet on it. What I might bet on (if I were a gambling man) is a pardon a la Bush come January 2009.

It is telling to see the Republicans close ranks in defense of one as dishonest, unethical and immoral as Tom DeLay. It only goes to show that the Republicans - those paragons of right-wing religious values - value party loyalty over personal integrity, political expediency over public duty and responsibility, and false pretense over rectitude. We will not be free - nor will our nation be safe - until we rid ourselves of such persons.

RAW STORY

DeLay on ballot means problems for Texas GOP

Brian Beutler
Published: Thursday July 6, 2006

A ruling by a federal judge today to keep former Representative Tom DeLay (R-TX) on the 2006 ballot is likely to have undesirable consequences for the Republican Party in Texas, RAW STORY has learned.

U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks, a Republican appointee, ruled that DeLay must appear on the Nov. 7 ballot as the GOP nominee even though he abandoned his congressional seat last month.

The GOP is expected to take the decision, to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, contending that, although Delay still maintains an address in Sugarland, TX, his primary residence is now in Virginia.

If the Republicans lose on appeal, DeLay will have to decide whether to campaign for an office from which he already has resigned.

Too funny!
What if he gets elected. To the seat he just resigned in shame, before they could throw him out.
Think of all the lobby money he would miss out on. Texas sucks anyway. hahahahaha

Brother you need to pipe down. The citizens of Texas are the ones who send Ron Paul to Congress. Here's his district:

Here's DeLay's former district:

I like Ron Paul, but one man does not a state make. This develpment is really good for Texas though.
It prevents the Grand Oil Party from running a better candidate.

BTW, maybe I have a personal reason for hating TX.
I was stabbed in the back, across the street from my home in the winter. While I was in the hospital somebody stole my only pair of shoes. They kicked me out into the freezing cold, to walk home barefooted. From the minute I got to TX I was treated rudely. I tried to take a nap on the grassy knoll, the cops rousted me. Said I was tresspassing. There were no signs. Anyway, I have zero good memories for about 2 years in Dallas.

Replace the xxxxx's with Dem or Republican, then Delay or Jefferson, then left or right - hopefully you get the point.

Back to my original thought - I'm in favor of flushing any and all of our esteemed and tenured professional politicians.

There are a lot of corrupt Judges in Texas as Anna Nichole Smith learned.
DeLay will deal with that and if his name is NOT withdrawn from the race by law, look for him to move back to Texas and win re-election.

Just in time to be found guilty of money laundering and fraud, and thrown in prison. He already stepped down in shame once. Now he can be frog marched from office.

Can dismissal of the Delay case be far behind?

A ruling on Friday against Ronnie Earle suggests that the Delay case dismissal should soon follow:

“AUSTIN – A state district judge threw out a felony indictment against the Texas Association of Business on Thursday, ruling that the group’s ads in the 2002 legislative elections did not expressly advocate the defeat or election of candidates.

The ruling is probably a significant blow to Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle’s prosecution of the state’s largest and most powerful business lobby.

The group’s ads “severely test, but do not cross” the line into “express advocacy,” Judge Mike Lynch ruled.

In 2002, the business group spent about $1.7 million on what it deemed “issue ads” in legislative races, supporting Republican candidates. [snip].

Judge Lynch’s order said prosecutors’ theory of illegal campaign expenses, while innovative, cannot be found in the state election code. Even if it were, it would be unconstitutionally broad and vague, he said.”

I wonder if Ken Lay got whacked because he was the star witness against Delay. That would explain why Delay has a new found optimism for running. No solid dirt on this yet. Just speculatin.

Edit to add:
[alt scenario] Or, now that hes underground, he cant really testify....can he? [/alt scenario]
