I found there were a lot better reasons for invading Afghanistan than Iraq, if, that is, there were some sort of follow-through. But that operation also stands as a screw-up by Bush and his team (including Condi "We-don't-do-nation-building" Rice). Warlordism is rampant, the Taliban resurgent, and opium production way up.

As for the "liberated" people, here's a little update.

Afghanistan was to receive appx. 15 billion dollars, as an aid.
It did receive appx. 1.5 billion dollars, instead.
