The level of single minded bias is astounding!

Oppress African-Americans? You mean like creating a system to deliver a subsistence level of existence, into which in wildly disparate numbers Blacks are invited to participate? A system under which their basic needs are minimally met by the “benevolent” government, upon whom they become completely reliant? A system designed to ensure that any attempt to remove oneself from it is faced with a staggering loss of additional benefits such as healthcare or housing making entry level job-taking a non option? That kind of “oppression”?
No, like a system where, after enslavement African-Americans were released from slavery with a promise of 40 acres and a mule so that they had some stake in their future only to have that promise revoked ensuring that they and their progeny would be at a disadvantage. Seeing this disadvantage and it's effect things have been done to try and help them but of course those things are always tinkered with by conservatives to try and make less and less available to help them. This causes liberals to create other ways to help them and the spiraling continues. You mention healthcare but you don't want to give the poor healthcare that doesn't end when they make a certain amount... don't blame liberals for creating the systems to help the poor, blame the cons for jacking those systems to keep the poor poor.

Quote:
You know, the kind that offers an education system culminating in quota driven test score advantages to the “oppressed” while maintaining strict control over what is taught in their primary and secondary education, fiercely opposing any system that might promote parental choice in schooling? A system that imposes an increasing number of ancillary subjects on teachers while hindering if not outright denying their ability to hold the students to a set of standards that must be met prior to advancement? A system that continues to graduate children incapable of reading at a level required by society? That kind of oppression?
Well you've got a couple things in there. First, who gutted our education system? Conservatives. Who created the test score driven programs? Conservatives. Who opposes the ignorant masses from spreading their ignorance to their children through homeschooling? Liberals.
I think homeschooling is fine if you have a college degree but without that degree I don't believe you should be trying educate your children on your own.

Quote:
Oppressing women? You mean like creating and promoting an organization, empowered unto itself to claim to speak for all women, which begins a multimedia campaign to demean any women who would choose of her own accord to remain in a traditional role as homemaker and mother?
Funny, I don't remember any such organization during the women's suffrage movement.

Quote:
A system which snidely remarks that unless a woman leave the home and enter the workplace, she is somehow less worthy, old fashioned, uninformed? A system which through insult and intimidation seeks to remove women from the home, thereby insuring an ever increasing number of these women’s children become increasingly reliant on the benevolent government’s effort to care for them? That kind oppression?
That kind of oppression only exists in the minds of the ignorant.

Quote:
Oppress Gays? You mean like a policy of forcing one’s sexual desires to define them as a person, thus forcing self identification and group think upon individuals? You mean like defaming any person who despite his homosexual desires might choose to examine their nature and strive to deny those urges in favor of a heterosexual life as a liar, who is, instead of deciding for himself based upon the entirety of his being, must have it decided for him based upon sexual desires. You man that kind of oppression?
No, the kind that actively seeks to keep gay people from having the same rights as everyone else and tries to keep anti-discrimination laws off the books.

Thank you. A bit of a "Dennis Millerian" rant.

I am so very tired of the "Opposite side of the coin? What’s That?” mentality that seems to permeate our society, thereby promoting the damaging “us vs. us” battle of right versus left, instead of concentrating on the real battle before us, the “us vs. them” between the free people of this nation and the controlling efforts of the ruling class.
The ruling class are the corporatists. I believe that you subscribe to their philosophy?

How about the IRS ?

A few short decades ago, the government sufficed with a much lower level of taxation only upon one breadwinner per couple... whereas now, both are taxed to the tune of one of their lungs every productive day of their lives. Yeah, that's women's "liberation" all right!
You really do have trouble sticking to the topic eh? Corporatists have forced women into the workplace so that they no longer have the choice they used to, to be a home maker or work outside the home. Now, as a woman, unless you belong to the ruling class, you MUST work outside the home. The IRS didn't create that system. Besides, the tax code is the way it is because corporatists have paid to have it so confusing because we all know that in the confusion of war, there's money to be made... did I say war? Well, you can apply that to the confusion of the tax code too.

Well Soothsayer...you have to pay for all those expensive wars the gun-toting "patriotic" redneck republicans in this country tend to start somehow.
Sorry I didn't see your quotes at first. I was going to say NO, they're nationalists.

Right, so you post garbage, then when your told it's crap, you run from defending it.
And yet you provided nothing of substance in support of your characterization of crap.

Can you refute any of the points made by Kupelian?

so your going to argue that america is playing the role of passive victim here, and islam the aggressor.
yet it is america with the history of agressive expansionism into foreign countries to thieve the oil, with excuses like domino effect and holy christian crusades against the evil muslims / communists. and what are you pointing to as an example of those kidnapping islamics giving tenderness and love towards you poor hapless america victims. i don't recall the islams sending valentine cards along with planes on 9/11.

the stockholm syndrome is a joke in this case. simply another idiot trying to play the fear card, because it is easier to get people to hate if first you can trick them into thinking they have something to fear.

Why? Because you say so?

Then you should have no trouble picking Kupelian's article apart, point by point, using fact and logic instead of vitriol and mere opinion.
