| The Embittered One | Republicans and Conservatism As we've seen in the recent news from New York, the RNC is increasingly backing far right candidates and hanging moderates out to dry. People like Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and others are coming to dominate and control the party. Every single potential candidate for 2012 is a Christian Conservative. The party is no longer the Republican Party; it is now the Conservative Party. I postulate that the Republican Party will soon splinter into two factions. The moderates will either gravitate to a third party like Libertarian (which would temper that faction's rather inane proposals, like abolishing the federal government...) or will form a third party. The Conservatives will continue to use the Republican Party name. What will this mean for politics? Well, I postulate that the next few elections will see elections split between three candidates. This will be a time of plenty for Democrats. While I think the moderates would steal some democratic voters, I don't think it'll be enough to overcome the factionalism of the future Republican party. Be prepared to see the reign of the Democrat in the coming years. And just think - it'll be entirely due to the evangelical Conservatives. |

| By the standards of NY state, Scozzafava is a conservative Republican. just slightly more conservative than the average elected Republican in Albany. She doesn't meet the requirements of the rabid true believers but that says more about them than her. | Her voting record is clear. She is slightly more conservative than New York Republicans representatives overall. She is backing a Democrat who is qualified and actually knows something about the district and its issues, which cannot be said for the Conservative/Republican who doesn't even live in the district and can't be bothered to do his homework. | Esquire | It would be more accurate to say they are paying lip service to conservatives. There haven't been any actual conservatives in government for many, many years, if you remember that a conservative is someone who favors smaller government. greedy. That's one reason why, if one would like to do some fact-checking about, say, the health-care debate, Republicans are arguably the last people to turn to. Grandpa h. One proposed to be roasted at the stake should not douse himself in flammable oil. Yoruba proverb | |
