I saw this when you first posted it, its very moving letter. I think nobody responded to it because the text provided was a snapshot of the letter, and not quote friendly. In the future you may want to "copy and paste" text into the reply screen. Then provide a link (copy and paste from address bar) to the actual page of the story (not the home page of the whole website)
That link above doesnt work. Try this one:
UK Independent
Quote:
"I think that you should withdraw all of our soldiers from Iraq. After all, it's not our war, it's America's. So why did we, the British, have to get involved?"
I disagree with this part, America didnt conspire with Tony Blair to attack Iraq for oil, our illigitimate president did, but he is not America. He represents a handful of corporations, not the American people. He is sending our young men and women to die for oil just like Tony Blair sent her brother.

Another observation for you, Whinger. Make a comment about your article.

This is a debate site, not just a bulletin board for posting articles. How does anyone know what to say? It shoulda been a clue when you had to bump it six days after the start, 'cause there were no replies.

And don't just bump. Say something relevant or post related material, but just bumping is a little frowned on...

In a country where the people can't or won't write, a message to a president who can't or won't read

"My husband immediately knew that his firstborn son had been killed - and my husband did not take the news well,"

The father then walked into the garage, picked up a propane tank, a lighting device and a can of gasoline he used to douse the van, police Capt. Tony Rode said. He smashed the van's window, got inside and set it ablaze, despite attempts by the Marines to stop him,

"A war over oil and money"....a misinformed youth lashing out against who she percieves to be the enemy. Her 19 year old brother was a soldier by his own free will. He knew of the possible dangers before he joined the military. I'm sorry that he died, but the media capitalizing on a 14 year old that is lashing out at Blair is a waste of time and irrelevant.

By this logic we can save the world by putting 14 year olds in charge. Would that not be great?

Yeah, the media can be "capitalized" a lot more effectively by getting more photos of Bush playing warrior by dressing up in a flight suit, pretending to be a flyer again, and doing another make-believe carrier landing.

What does the media capitalizing on anything have to do with the letter to TB? Why don't you try to stay on topic, instead of chiming in with your hatred of Bush.

You are the one that brought up the subject of the media capitalizing on the letter, not me. You don't seem to mind it when Bush uses the media, do you?

And as for your asinine claim that I have a "hatred" for Bush, that's pure rubbish. I even voted for him, and will probably do it again. Why don't you just stick to posting your own opinions instead of telling me what I feel?

I brought up the media using the 14 year old and you brought up something Bush did, completely unrelated. Again, why don't you contribute to the topic instead of bring up something irrelevant to the topic at hand.

I think it's more like the girl was using the media to publicize her letter and criticism of Blair and the war. Exactly the same way Bush uses the media for his own purposes.

tony blair understands very well the cost of war in iraq - his daughter attempted suicide under the pressure that followed the invasion.

Why that girl did not write an "open letter" to her parents, then ?
