What do you think would happen if Iran, Syria, Egypt or who ever decided to take action with Palestine, bombed and invaded Israel? This time they launched a surprise calculated strike? WW3? With everyone so po'ed at Israel right now, and the U.S...you think we would keep our allies?

If Iraq showed anything it showed that even US allies will not get involved in what they perceive to be an unjust war...or a misguided one...or one with ulterior motives. Even the allies involved with the US in invading Iraq had to be given incentives. So...if Egypt, Syria, Jordon, Saudi Arabia, etc...were to go to war with Israel...and the US was to get involved...I don't think anyone would help them... but, by the same token...I don't think anyone would side against the US to help the Palestinians either. I think the Israeli's know that Obama is not going to be a stanch supporter...like they've had with present and past administrations...and I think that is the primary reason for this conflict in Gaza...it was either now or wait until the next administration in eight years.

I dunno with the Afghanistan conflict, war in Iraq, and the whole Israel conflict...To me it seems the middle east would feel backed in a corner, which could inevitably lead to a massive conflict. I mean really its either fight or flight, and I really don't see the middle east considering flight, as demonstrated by the underdog Palestine.

There are some who would throw their support behind anyone the US opposed or against whoever the US supported, for no other reason than knee-jerkian reaction. In a hypothetical that saw Israel (a longstanding US ally) attacked by a bunch of neighboring Muslim countries, its fairly obvious the US would support Israel so the critical lefties would all get behind the neighboring Muslim attackers. I don't think popular support makes much of a difference though. I'm certain Israeli military capabilties, plus US support, would see them prevail no matter how much popular support Muslim neighbors had.
