Oh, this is good stuff. Question inspired by the article, where religious people ask who would Jesus vote for?

Normally you might say Republican, and I've heard Bush refered to as a religious zealot a few times, but hey, with all the invocations of God at the Democratic convention, you never know!

update--

hahahaha, apparently God is rooting for Bush
Quote:
I come to you today as The Ruler Of The Kingdom Of God, which mankind often calls Heaven, to give you my endorsement for the reelection of President George W. Bush. I wish to express to you some of my reasons why I support President Bush
I love people

Oh, it's really too bad, isn't it?

Sometimes you tickle me, Comrade. This is a little whimsical. However, I think Jesus would vote for the only party in America that acknowledges Him in its platform. http://www.constitutionparty.com/par...m.php#Preamble
Quote:
The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States.

This great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been and are afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.
Michael Peroutka is the Constitution Party's candidate.

The Spiritist Tripod article is another story however. These guys claim to be "channeling" Jesus. They are either:
A) channeling a lying spirit who claims to be Jesus and doesn't spell very well for a Supreme Being or
B) ridiculing a lot of people's Savior and Lord in a blasphemous manner, for the purpose of parody.

I trust Jesus, in His role as Righteous Judge, will be more merciful towards these assholes than I would be...

Jesus would vote for the pope because he knows that Jesus' body is made of wheat not rice, dammit!

The Pope is not an American. The pope is a sham.
If Jesus campaigned for Michael Peroutka he would have a better chance of winning. Then again if Jesus showed up we wouldnt need no stinking President. I chose other, I believe our candidates are chosen by the Oligarchy, none of which gives a damn about what Jesus thinks.

Well, if Jesus ever existed, which is doubtful, it's difficult to tell what he thought. Where are his books explaining his position?

However, if you think he taught about love and peace and understanding, then I am in full agreement that while these are broad, vague topics, these are not things that George Bush seems to know anything about. I don't know if any of the candidates above would agree with your idea of Jesus' teaching, but I think Ralph Nader knows what this country needs right now more than anyone.

I don't think he would vote, he would run. :)

Who would Jesus vote for has his leader? Is this silly or what?

First off if he came back today he could not vote because he is not certified as an Ameircan.

The homeland security people would arrest him for not having a green card and would hold him for questioning because he looks too middle-eastern.

Then they would deport him back to heaven.

Jesus would shake his head, mutter "the world is screwed", then die again.

Jesus would have to move to Ohio, you only have to live there 1 month before an election to be considered a resident. I would rather he came to California, I have a few questions for him.
I have doubts about the whole omniscience deal, but if Jesus knew in advance what the outcome of an election would be, he wouldnt need to vote if the margin of victory was one vote or greater.
Thats one of the questions I have for the Christ when/if he returns: If God is all knowing, then we dont really have freedom to choose to follow His Son. If God knows the future then we are all just acting out a script and cannot "decide" to open the door if he stands at the door and knocks. There is no need to vote if the computers are programmed to give the Authoritarian ticket the win. And God is OK with that. God will also allow genocide even though the masses dont want that and pray ernestly for an end to mass murder. Today how many will die in Sudan? There is plenty of land not being used, plenty of food, yet billions do not own as much as 1 square foot of soil let alone a home, and who will go hungry today. Apparently this is Gods will, since He is all knowing.

Yeah, we need to wage a more sensitive war on terror, right?

The idea that we are the only bad people in the world and that everything is our fault; that if America just shut in its borders the world would become a land of rainbows and flowers without the imperialistic pigdogs....
It's a pretty dumb idea.

I do not always feel terrorized, We are only in danger of another terrorist attack, when Bushs polls drop drastically. Like the last terrorist attack.

Well, that's your own problem. If you've become a Michael Moore-ite who doesn't believe there are terrorists out there, I'd say you've got worse problems than Bush.

I am not buying the whole boogeyman deal. As for comparing my problems to Bushs; I am not under investigation for outing a CIA agent, or for war crimes. My problems pale in comparison to Bushs. Oh yeah, he will be unemployed soon, just like me. His daddy could get him another job somewhere, Carlyle maybe, where he can continue to profit from the wars he started, for profit.

But since the start of the "war on terrorism", the firm - unofficially valued at $3.5bn - has taken on an added significance. Carlyle has become the thread which indirectly links American military policy in Afghanistan to the personal financial fortunes of its celebrity employees, not least the current president's father. And, until earlier this month, Carlyle provided another curious link to the Afghan crisis: among the firm's multi-million-dollar investors were members of the family of Osama bin Laden.

Jesus would probably write-in his vote for Dennis Kucinich, for several reasons. He is the original anti-war candidate. Dept. of Peace just seems like a jesus ticket. Dennis is a genuine humanitarian. Dennis is a man of principle.

Have to agree with you there, Daniel. He was the only actual Democrat running that had the ability to be President.

I think a reminder of this forum's name is in order.
"What would Jesus do?"

On taxes..... Render unto Bush what is Bushes. (If Kerry wins change the name)

On payback for 9/11.....Vengence is mine sayeth the Lord

On the war in Iraq.... Blessed are the peacmakers

On social programs.... From each according to his ability to each according to his need

On gun controll.... What's that?

Whether you are in agreement with these or not is NOT the point.
Whether you believe Jesus was a myth, a simple man, or the living Son of GOD is NOT the point.

The answer to the question is really pretty obvious.

Isn't that line from the Communist Party?

Besides, I don't really care what some Mexican would do.

(I used to work with a Jesus (hay-zoos). I wonder if that's who we are talking about? Didn't know the guy was that influential! Gee.

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

Nope that line is from the Book of Acts. Pre-dates Communism by a bit. But in modern USA yea it would be jumped on as Socialism right away.
Back when it was said the response to calling it socialism would have probably been "huh?"
