The latest antiscience gaffe this time from Palin

One of the stupidest things she has said, and that's quite a challenge with all the stupidity she has said.

Either she is genuinely stupid or her speechwriter is. This in a latest of demonstrable antiscience (McCain driving the "We don't need planetariums" message home in the debates)

So, she said that "Early identification of a cognitive or other disorder, especially autism, can make a life-changing difference.", then in the next breath dissed that same research: "You've heard about some of these pet projects they really don't make a whole lot of sense and sometimes these dollars go to projects that have little or nothing to do with the public good. Things like fruit fly research in Paris, France. I kid you not."

She obviously has no idea how scientific research is conducted, even when she supports the efforts of that research. I don't see science getting any more support from a McCain/Palin presidency than it did from the previous one. It's not that they hate science, they just don't understand it and therefore consider it inconsequential.
