Games Bishop? there is no game here, I just love posting that map, because while Bush may have taken "flordia" by only a few hundred voters, and he lost the popular vote, it annoys the hell out of the "gore should have won" people.

Beacuse it shows something they don't like to see, Gore would have won in reality a small portion of the country, over all. The population centers were mainly his.. and that was ABOUT IT.

Also, I would like to take a moment to note that Gore also lost his HOME STATE.

You guys can cry and whine about Flordia all you want too, Gore couldn't carry his home state. Thats all he needed to win, and they didn't want him as President. I think that says something.

bishop, you can't admit it can you? The electorial college worked as designed, and it drives you nuts, the map shows that the system, designed by very intelligent people btw, works as intended.

Thank God.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

heh.. yeah, that's it EXACTLY. i simply can't admit it, i am as intelligent as a rock.

votes in florida were thrown in the garbage. and the ever-popular trick of closing voting stations down without first informing voters. etc.. how that represents a system that works is beyond me - you claim that it's all good simply because your man won.. that's the sort of democracy you got back in the "gangs of new york" days.

riddle me this, even though this debate was covered in another thread which you chose to ignore, if the electoral college was intended to protect state rights, tell me why states continue to lose autonomy under both republican and democratic regimes?

hope for america...

Regarding those results.

That map could be very accurate and still have blue winning the popular vote.

I am surprised to explain this but it has to do with population. Rural areas are traditionally more conservative than urban areas.

Draw a map and color the geographical areas by "rural" and "urban". The "rural" areas are going to be dominent.
Especially in the west where counties are even larger.

So this is only a logical statement if you mean

in terms of acherage or square miles.
Seems sort of silly to me.

Sort of like filling up a one quart container that is tall and slender and another that is short and wide.

Then ask a Kindergartner which one has more. 99 times out of a hundred they will pick the one where the liquid goes up the highest.
If you have young ones at home try this.

Hopefully it will not fool any adult members of your family though..... :)

I always have trouble posting those addresses and have hard time getting them ever to work... hate doing that. If it is not working then go to www.goodle.com and us search and type in UN monitor election ... links will pop up and scroll down til you find the ones you want to review.

Technosoul. Geez.
Easy to do. When you are on a web page you need to link, just click the address bar which highlights the page you are on (whole address, like the page I'm on now: "http://www.volconvo.com/forums/index.php?act=Post&CODE=06&f=6&t=2693&p=61253"), right-click the address and select "copy". Hit "quote" on the post and wherever you want the link to appear hit the "http://" button and paste the url into the box.

Piece o' cake

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

How important is the map? It could be indicative of how prodigious the Reps were at rigging elections. We only heard about Florida because they were so sloppy and the press didnt want to be responsible for a civil war for printing what really happened. Hell, the map could be propaganda. What good is any map without a legend? I still dont see a source.

the map is superfluous compared to the number of votes. a president is not decided by square miles of country that vote for him.

What really happened in Flordia Gr8?

the source for that PIC was WND. Just right click the pic and chekc the source.
The SOURCE of the map was USA Today.

oh and bobb_dobbs, you are incorrect, the number of votes a canidate for president gets DOES NOT MATTER. Gore could have gotten 50 million more the Bush, but if he didn't get the Electorial votes, its moot point.

Does this map make it clearer?

What really happened in Flordia Gr8? [/b][/quote] I am not surprised you didnt hear about it, it wasnt reported in American newspapers. The Florida election was rigged. Tens of thousands of black voters were turned away at the polls, the crime? VWB (Voting While Black) ChoicePoint scrubbed the voter rolls of all names of felons also folks with names similar to felons. Where was the outrage? The press sold us out. I am white , but if it happens to one of us it happens to us all. The GOP knows that an extremely high percentage of low income blacks vote Democrat. Their race was right there next to their name on voter rolls. The NY Times didnt report this injustice until 7 months after the election. Greg Palast reported it in the Guardian while they were still counting votes in Dec. Pretty sad, eh?

Again with that map?

Anyone knows that square miles do not elect anything.

Yes rural areas tend to vote republican and urban areas are more apt to vote democrat.

If we used that map I bet the family farm would never have gone corperate. In fact farmers and ranchers would be in the fortune 500.

The answers are a blowing in the winds, hurricane winds.

Following the beat of the secret global raindance drums, we bring you thunder and superstorms.

The Gator got you granny during the last Pesidental election in Fla.

But this time things might be different. We are on alligator watch alert. And a hard rain is a-gonna fall.

It is raining on their parade and they know it.
