Sate's Can't Pay For Themselves? Here is a link to a Business Week article which appears on Yahoo : http://finance.yahoo.com/loans/artic...for-Themselves I would like to debate this article with others. My opinion on this, is two things. Number one since when is projecting that you cannot meet your inflated budget for the next year proof of bankruptcy? If anything it only proves to me their budgets are too high, probably because like in California they are funding too many unnecessary programs, and do not need to fund them anymore. They need to cut costs to these unnecessary programs, and sorry, but the illegal immigration problem is adding to this budget problem because of the amount of benefits being given to them and their children whom we do not have money or room for. I suspect in places near the border this is addidn to their overall problem all though I don't believe it is the only reason their budgets are so inflated. Number two this is because congress handed out a blank check to wall street now the states all figure if they are handing out free money to wall street maybe they will handout free money to us. Again if they get their money they will not create jobs, or programs that assist citizins get housing but up on their feet too where they can affford it and become independent but it will keep funding programs that have no real goals and will only sustain the inbalance we have. Tye homes where build tooo fast, too cheaply, at too high of prices, with little to no varyance in sizes, they caused this problem. americans no longer hand modest homes to pick from and modest prices, it's the same thing happening with cars. You know if people wouldn't keep asking for fantastic upgrades that we don't need in our cars, like navigation and t.v's and dvd players we might not all have to pay such ungodly prices for cars. They are just cars, cars they drive us to places, we don't all need luxry cars, but our demands have helped cause these problems and we don't want to face the music. I remember my mother saying thta in her younger years a car that was new was about a grand. Of course pay was different then, but in comparison to wages now, that was very reasonable, and easy to save for, not like today where instead of buying an alright car, and saving for it we are forced to buy 10,000 cars at minimum or get no loans. You can't even pick your car anymore they pick it for you. Like my care I just wanted a $5,000 car but the loan company refused to give a five year loan on it. They wanted it paid in two, there was no way we could afford that, so we eventually got forced into my current over priced car, for 10,000. I had to pay double the cost to get a payment plan for five years. It's rediculous, insurance companies, and banks make everything way more expensive. You know if we no longer had banks for loans most vehicle and home comapanies would be building reaonable housing and cars, for the people to afford. But because they know they can rely on the banks to give loans they don't give a crap how much they sell houses and cars for anymore, and it stinks. Just like requiring non-custodial parents to hold insurance on their children sky rocketed the price of medical insurance, and just like how requiring drivers to carry car insurance sky rocketed car insurance prices. As far as I am concerned banks should not be the foundation of our economics the people should be. Perhaps it's time to start breaking up huge banks, adn wallstreet and diminish their power on this country. Saving the empovershed by empoverishing their counterparts will empoverish the whole.

What's a sate? And I'll agree with you so far as people and states budgets are greatly over inflated. Our geography club at my college has $3700 this year as budget for trips and spending. Total that with all the clubs together, many of which get higher budgets.... tuition can't cover everything, I wonder if a part of the states education fund goes to students this way. I'm sure states could cut back but it would lower the expected level of services. Same works at the personal level. I'm sure most American's can get by. What they can't seem to do is get by in their overly expensive homes, to large SUV's, and to much debt caused by over spending. We expect a certain level of living and fact we might have to lower our standards scares people. What do you say to an atheist who sneezes? Yourdeadthatsit! - Dane Cook

Yeah I didn't notice I accidently left out the t in state I have been having problems the last couple years with what seems like may be dislexia, but sometimes i use another program to spell and grammer check just not today. I agree we may need to lower our standards as well, we have too many laws and rules, and many are great and needed but so many are unecessary and cost too much to provide to the standard expected. I think it's the coddlers faults, they don't want to be poor or have poor homes, and cars, but they want the government and banks to pay for them to have nice things. Some of us do live in abject poverty, but many who thing they are empovershed have never seen what it is like to not have hot water, and to have to boil it on a stove to have a bath, or to eat garbage because there isn't any food available. Saving the empovershed by empoverishing their counterparts will empoverish the whole.
