| African American Hostility I have been offended by comments I have overheard in encounters with African Americans discussing the election that has dominated conversation as of late. I have witnessed numerous declarations asserting that whites who oppose Obama in this election are ultimately racists, attempting to "keep the black man down." I, being a caucasian American supporting McCain's campaign, can firmly attest that my reasons behind my selection have nothing to do with race. In fact, it is quite evident that if Obama were not African American, he would not be a presidential candidant. A "white" first term senator with a resume mostly consisting of being a community organizer would have no prospect of being selected as the candidate for either party. Perpetuating the idea that "whites" oppose Obama for his race is ludicrous and demonstrate the underlying problems in our nation among the races. African American comprise less than 15% of the nation's population; however, they declare they are not adequately represented in government. I suggest that they are properly represented in government, politics, and the entertainment industry. Furthemore, it is outrageous for accusations of racism to be used in response to support of McCain. We need a leader to navigate this country in these perilous times, not a opportunity to exercise affirmative action or an EEO. |

| Son of X51 | A few months ago, my black neighbor said "I voted for GWB because he was my boy". I was offended that he knows all about me, and white people, from our simple conversation at the mailbox. I didn't even vote, so what does he know about me? Whatever dude. I consider his comments to be racist. So I just don't talk to him anymore. |

But have we decided Mr. Smith could never go to Washington? Have we made the presidency a fit position only for lawyers with years in the Senate? Have we forgotten Reagan? | |

| Son of X51 | I'm a little foggy on Reagan and the Mr Smith reference. I know it's a movie, but Reagan didn't just wrap a movie, and get elected President. Didn't he have some 20yrs civil service? I think a better analogy could be made between Gov Arnold and Obama, rather than Reagan and Obama. |

| Reagan vs. Obama Reagan was the governor of California prior to his presidency. His poilical career prior to his presidency demonstrated far more valuable experience than the limited and questionable political career of Obama; therefore, I would certainly not compare the two. |

| There's a US Election Forum...please be aware of it and use it. I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered. -George Best, on being asked what he did with his footballing fortunes. |
