| What astonishes me is not that Palin is pro-life, but rather she supports abstinence only sex-ed. That is truly astonishing. Her daughter is a prime example of why abstinence only sex-ed fails. And trashee, if you're confused, Night is implying that if Palin's daughter was poor, she would have got an abortion, something contrary to Palin's political belief. If... the machine of government... is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. -Henry David Thoreau |

That doesn't jibe with the family's moral stance on abortion, as made public by Sarah Palin. So, I'm going to have to ask if you're actually claiming that Bristol would get an abortion if she were poor (and if so, how do you know this?), or if you're just attacking Sarah Palin's pro-life stance and abstinence-only education position? | |

| I didn't know. It's not my fault---Bristol Palin I can imagine Bristol not being told about other than abstinence. Does Sarah have no confidence in her daughter's ability to make intelligent choices for herself? Why not inform about contraceptives? Talk about willful ignorance. If that's not enough wait 'til you hear about Sarah's husband's DWI. She has my vote. If the terrain and the map do not agree, follow the terrain. When motherhood becomes the fruit of a deep yearning, not the result of ignorance or accident, its children will become a new race. |

| That's what pisses me off. Abstinence only sex-ed is based on the perfection of human nature in teens, which is non-existent in our hormonal bodies. Sexual urges. Oh boy. Try and stop 'em. Or understand them from a position of knowledge and channel them. Sarah Palin would, it seems, rather ignore sex. Easy to say when you're old and senile, but not in your teens where nature over millions of years has tuned the procreation urges to the time best suited for survival of the species. If the terrain and the map do not agree, follow the terrain. When motherhood becomes the fruit of a deep yearning, not the result of ignorance or accident, its children will become a new race. | |

| Bristol Palin is a poster child for the ineffectiveness of her mom's and McCain's abstinence-only, no sex eduction policies. I live in rapt anticipation of what Bristol will name Sarah's new grand child. The latest kid's name is Trig. Maybe they'll call the next one Bullet. Then again, wasn't that Roy Rogers' dog? | Yes, if I hear one more Right Wing automaton praise a well off governor's daughter for the "guts" to have this baby, I may puke. It isn't about guts, it's about resources. And if a tried and true hardcore conservative family can't raise a child to actually practice what they preach, why do they insist that the rest of the thinking world go along with what plainly is not just a matter of "teaching children what is best". Hell, maybe if her mom had taken her to the doctor and gotten her birth control, she wouldn't "have" to get married. But, what she "has" to do, really, is give birth so that her mom can maintain her bona fides. But, I suppose, marriage for the 17 year old is about her Mom's reputation as well. Gotta prove to the world her daughter was raised to only sleep with the person she is going to spend the rest of her life with, right? | A question: is it okay to use the word "fail" in a serious discussion? What about "epic fail"? I keep expecting this to be a fake internet rumor or somehow mitigated by something...but it isn't. Out of all the words and phrases in the English language none but epic fail can properly capture what Palin has done. Define afford; many women are so dedicated to what they see as right that even extreme poverty does not stop them. They grow up in orphanages or with mom in the homeless shelter. You can't really hate the true believers because they're not doing wrong in their heads but its easy to look down at them. I think it goes without saying the any suggestion to invade Canada is mind-numbingly stupid. |

| I can't believe what I am hearing here. When a conservatively-raised girl becomes pregnant, it is a symbol of hypocrisy and poor raising of the child? If you truly believe that, you are so far out there... I don't even know. Ladies, let me put it down on the line for you. Shit happens to people. All people. No matter how hard Sarah Palin tries to raise her child, the decision is ultimately Bristol's choice. Another little fact of life: kids do dumb shit. You're just so blatantly biased against conservatives that you would use a daughter's pregnancy as an attack on a candidate. If Obama's daughters were pregnant (I know they are too young, assuming they were older), I would never use that as a platform to attack Barrack. I know some on the right would do it, but that just makes them assholes too. In my book, anyone engaging in such an activity is of the lowest quality. Kudos to Senator Obama when he said that Palin's family, and his as well, should be left out of the debate. You won't hear me give credit to him often, but I will give it to him when he deserves it. And here, he does. |

| Yes, kids do dumb shit and expecting them to not do dumb shit is dumber than shit. That is why abstinance only programs don't work, which is why Palin and the other hard line conservatives are wrong and why this matters. There's nothing wrong with having a view of reality that differs from how reality actually is. There's definitely nothing wrong with being ignorant; we're all born that way and spend our lives trying to correct it. However Palin should know this sort of thing and when being wrong results in catastrophe it transmutes all the wrong into fail. I think it goes without saying the any suggestion to invade Canada is mind-numbingly stupid. | ||

| You seemed clear. Educated or not the erect member has little conscience. I'm not sure what the woman's excuse will be. If the terrain and the map do not agree, follow the terrain.
