http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/08/01/ter...eat/index.html

Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Security at financial sites in New York City, northern New Jersey and Washington, D.C., increased significantly Sunday after the Department of Homeland Security raised the terror threat level for those areas to orange, or high.

"Alarming" intelligence from multiple sources indicates that al Qaeda terrorists could be poised to strike financial institutions, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said.

The potential targets include the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, Prudential Plaza in Newark, New Jersey, and the Citigroup Building and New York Stock Exchange in New York.

apparently, they're shutting down the lincoln tunnel. that's gonna cause some headaches tomorrow morning.

best news yet, i fuckin work at the prudential plaza in jersey.. *yay*

any thoughts on these new alerts?

hope for america...

Bishop - It would take one "Crazy azz mufucka" to carryout the attack that everyone knows is coming. However, i say the following to you as a person who enjoys your debates...if you awake and get a weird feeling...stay home, many WTC workers who would of been where the plane hit said...something didn't feel right, something held me up, so look at diversions from you going to work as possibly being a signal that could save your life....but also try not to get Fired.

Just knowing that people are anticipating your attack doesn't mean you are going to cancel it. The explanation for that goes all into game theory, and it takes forever to explain. Game theory is really interesting, I'd recommend that anyone read about it.

Think of it like the Normandy invasion. Germany KNEW that we were going to attack somewhere in France. They knew we would attack South France, or Normandy, or the Pas-de-Calais. And we know that they are planning to attack Citibank, or a bunch of other buildings. That didn't stop us from doing it, and it probably won't stop them from trying.

Oh, it's really too bad, isn't it?

thanks young... i might just take your advice with that one.. i did give my two week notice this past friday (i'm moving up to boston for grad school), so i just have two weeks to go.. how horribly ironic it would be if......

on the "bright side", the cops have placed all sorts of cement blockades in the street so that no cars can get to my building. i suppose that should make me feel a little better, but not really.

gotta love my corporate slavemasters though. work is definitely on tomorrow..

hope for america...

Well, if terrorist threats stopped productivity of American companies, they would be succeeding, right? :)

I'd like to thank Charlie Hodge, bringing me scarves and water.

if you line up all the terrorist warnings over the last couple of years you'll find..... almost every day has been covered by a terrorist warning!

hmm.. those boys at the pentagon must be working damn hard to keep finding all that evidence

don't forget the cover sheets on those TPS reports..

it's a zoo over here.. i did an interview with some reporter while walking into the office. that was kind of cool.. packed with a glowstick (light in the rubble), water and breathing mask.. just in case. blah.

good thing i feel jaded, or else i'd be more worried than i am now. not that i'm really worried per se, but ya know.. as i told the reporter - it's never a good feeling to know that the building you work in is a prime target. *like duh* lots of cops with big guns.. tons of media.

at least they have those barricades. that would stop a truck.

and, this is kind of annoying.. my cube is right in a prime viewing location.. outside my window i can see the cops armed to the teeth in full gear.. all sorts of media crews.. the barricades..

heh, i hope they don't expect me to get those tps finished on time.

hope for america...

from what I have read this threat actually has detailed descriptions of what "al-Qaeda" was looking at. They had detailed info about security, buildings, ect. It is probaly the only "threat" I have seen broadcasted that looks credible. If Kerry would just stay out of the news we wouldnt have this problem (that is a joke BTW).

bishop I will be dissapointed if you dont make a nice background look at camera in a blank stare shot on CNN or FOX.

under construction....

heh.. my work area's had a lot of visitors today.. and looking out the window, i saw sen. corzine and gov. mcgreevey. apparently they had an outdoors press conference with prudential's ceo.

would've been funny to see someone run outside and pelt one of them on the head with an egg..

they're going to make these barricades surrounding the building permanent. gotta love that reactionary thinking.

I'm moving to DC in a few days, going to school at George Washington University.

Both the IMF and the World Bank are in a stones throw of where I'll be.

Not to mention the World Bank is actually on university property, we lease it out to them.

that's not what i'm reading.

sounds like the standard bush tactic of working the public like clay into a state of fear, ready to return the incumbent govt to power in order to maintain stability

people are stupid. for every one of us who may be interested in discussing the relative merits of terror warnings, 10 people think "damn we should have nuked the ruscis when we had the chance!"

You know in Men in Black when K was explaining how stupid the Mass public was to J....i fully understood what he was saying and i'm glad you point this out, many people choose to vote for people based on stuff as simple as where they are from or how they sound when they speak...but very few of us learn as much as we can before making that choice....and as important as it is...we should.
