In a New TV commercial, Edwards tells Us that if we have any ?'s to just spend a few Minutes with 3 men that Kerry served with. The Dems are hoping that You won't talk to any of the other people that Kerry served with though.....

This doesn't surprise me at all. You'd be hard pressed to find a "mainstream" candidate who was worth a damn. The one and only reason I am voting for him is that Bush, even on his best day, is IMO far worse than anything Kerry could pull.
Kerry will keep his eye on the polls and national mood swings, while Bush doesn't seem to give a damn about what people think of him.

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

Kerry only pretends to careee about what people think because he has not been elected yet.

I thought somebody like yourself would be on to this common ploy.

Bush was no different, nor were any other unelected politicians I can ever recall seeing.

Scribbler, those traits about both candidates is their greatest asset, and their biggest downfall at the same time.

I'd like to thank Charlie Hodge, bringing me scarves and water.

Why did this get treated like Toast?

These are Real Men saying that while Bush was AWOL...Kerry might as well of been, as well they claim 2 of Kerry's wounds were self inflicted.

Back from the " " Knive.....

If the Commander & Chief is an admitted "War Criminal" & half of the men he served with wouldn't vote for him......does it make him better than the other parties two draft dodgers?

Democrats should've stuck to their principles and gone with Dean. But they want to win more than they want to be faithful to their principles, so they chose Kerry, who has a better chance.

Oh, it's really too bad, isn't it?

Well I have a good idea. We could get the Pope to make him a saint. Saint Kerry - then he could run for office as our new moral canidate. Well, at least some small Bisphop in some off-the-wall branch of the Catholic religion could make him a Saint. I should talk to the Monks in Santa Barbara and see they it is a go. Or perhaps Jessie and Al Sharpton could do the honors, they have religious degrees (I think?).

Okay you bad boy Republicans - I want you to say 20 hail Kerrys with your beads. That should atone for your sins.

Is this not fun?

Well i suppose the jokes on Kerry, your talking sainthood....the pope treats Kerry like he's "Boys in the hood" many priests won't even allow him to enter their church....and many more won't grant him communion. What gives he always looks like a Nice person...maybe they just don't like his politics, i don't like his puppetism and Fraternity link to Satan.....but thats just me.

This and many other posts point to a very disturbing trend in this country. It seems that 99.9% of the political posts are negative posts. I am defining negative as being against a candidate as opposed to being for a candidate. Supporting Bush because Kerry is too liberal, or supporting Kerry because Bush took us into war in Iraq are both valid reasons, but it shows some serious problems in our system. Perhaps our low voter turnout is due to this type of dissatisfaction. Since this post is about Kerry I will focus on him. Kerry is not Satan incarnate. Can someone please post a reason to vote for Kerry as other than getting Bush out of office?

I am looking for some policy or issue that Kerry supports that you think would benefit this country. I am just asking about Kerry only because he was the topic of this post. I think Bush supporters would have similar problems. Yes, I do favor Bush over Kerry, but I will admit that I disagree with Bush more than I agree with his policies. It is just my hope that someday we can make choices that we are proud of.

Hi Jeff.

I made a post here saying about the same thing, if seemed everyone was just attacking some candidate or organization, rahter then debating real political issues, or a policy of someone. My posting was moved out of this forum to another "general" forum (in case you missed it).

So I guess when in Rome do as they do.... but do not gripe about how folks vent their political fustrations and passions. That is the message I got from the monitors, that I should write my own posts on the issues and if they are well constructed then someone will debate them instead of just attacking a candiate as a demon or praising them as a saint.

So my suggestion is - say some Hail Kerrys and stop beating around the Bush. Which opinion and a dollar will buy you a cup of coffee.

Where is the beef? What are the real policies we can look at as hopefull solutions or as positive improvments for our culture? Is there more to life then wars and budgets?

Should Dick get a pretty wig so he can compete with Edwards?

Getting Bush out is the only reason I need. Because the candidates I love do not have a chance of winning, I will have to settle for a candidate I dont like. One of the reasons I dont like him is because he IS a catholic. But I hate Bush's religion which tells him to get Armageddon rolling. Among several other pseudo-religous tenets, such as his belief that there is no reason to plan for Americas future, because there wont be one. Its against my spirituality to hate, but GWB makes it hard, not to hate.

Exactly, theres two bad candidate choices here. Neither one is particularly viable. Its like someone giving you a choice between being deaf or mute...they pretty much both suck.

I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs and insanity for everyone, but its always worked for me.

For me it is a choice betwen a mediocre, doubletalking, narrow minded, trigger happy fool with absolutely zero diplomatic skills versus someone who couldn't POSSIBLY be worse. I believe a Bush second act will almost certainly BE worse by far than the first term. My vote will be for expediency only, as Bush truly worries me and I fear for the safety of this country. My genuine concern about this man, seriously thought out and not arrived at in haste, compels me to backburner my usual vote for the LP candidate and go with the only candidate with any chance of wresting power from a dangerous man. That's all.

Stop and think.

What is so important about some canadate's military or other background activities that they might have done 20 years ago?

Peaple change a lot from their age 20s to their age 50s and so none of that matters realistically anymore when it comes to determining their current thinking about topics or their current behavioism.

Such a debate like this is a disstraction from debating the current issues that would really impact us if one or the other guy is elected President.

"Admiral Roy Hoffmann, who sent a Bravo Zulu (meaning "good work"), to Kerry upon learning of the incident, was very surprised to discover in 2004 what had actually occurred. Hoffmann had been told that Kerry had spontaneously beached next to the bunker and almost single-handedly routed a bunkered force in Viet Cong. He was shocked to find out that Kerry had beached his boat second in a preplanned operation, and that he had killed a single, wounded teenage foe as he fled."

"Commander Geoge Elliott, who wrote up the initial draft of Kerry's Silver Star citation, confirms that neither he, nor anyone else in the Silver Star process that he knows, realized before 1996 that Kerry was facing a single, wounded young Viet Cong fleeing in a loincloth. While Commander Elliott and many other Swiftees believe that Kerry committed no crime in killing the fleeing, wounded enemy (with a loaded or empty launcher), others feel differently. Commander Elliott indicates that a Silver Star recommendation would not have been made by him had he been aware of the actual facts."

This is just gettign worse for Mr. Kerry.

He has him self to blame. He keeps bringing those 4 months up as if to use it as proof he has what it takes to be CinC....

McCain Condemns Ad Criticizing Kerry's Military Service
Washington Post
By Ron Fournier
The Associated Press
Thursday, August 5, 2004; 2:00 PM

Republican Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad criticizing John Kerry's military service "dishonest and dishonorable" and urged the White House on Thursday to condemn it as well.

The White House declined.

"It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me," McCain said in an interview with the Associated Press, comparing the anti-Kerry ad to tactics in his bitter Republican primary fight with President Bush.

The 60-second ad features Vietnam veterans who accuse the Democratic presidential nominee of lying about his decorated Vietnam War record and betraying his fellow veterans by later opposing the conflict.
<snip>
McCain, chairman of Bush's campaign in Arizona, later said the Bush campaign has denied any involvement and added, "I can't believe the president would pull such a cheap stunt."
Edit to add: This could get juicy... McCain is Important to Bush. We may get Bush's first apology in his life. LOL, just kidding.
