| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | The Obama / Edwards ticket. As Hillary was attempting to bask in warmth of her big win in W.V. we had that trumped by John Edwards coming out in support of Obama in a big speech aired on CNN (elsewhere). Clearly Edwards was seeking the position of V.P. by demonstrating he could be the best back up speaker in support of Obama's viewpoints. Which he did as soon as he found out which canidate might win relative to deligates being counted. His bid for V.P. sort of downplayed the idea of a dream ticket by Hillary being a V.P. Obama seemed very impressed by John Edwards speech which echoed those of Obama's and seemed to get the crowd all excited with it's spiritual and emotional overtones. I am here by predicting a Obama/Edwards ticket be announced once the primary is over and done with. The shame of it all is that both Edwards and Obama have copy-catted ideas that were created by Hillary Clinton originally. |

I guess you people forgot her infamous "We are the President" statement when Bill was in the White House. Besides, haven't you heard that Rush Limbaugh has been getting Republicans to vote for Hillary in state primaries? "America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. An Obama-Edwards ticket sounds good to me. Of course the Right would accuse them of being dangerous radicals blablabla, but they're already doing that anyway, so nothing would be gained if Obama were to run with some 'safe' cypher. My question is: Who in hell would want to be president of the United States with the country's prospects as dismal as they are? Well, I would qualify it as such... If they intend to do things the same way, why would they want the job? Something tells me if this President doesn't have some real answers, people are going to be pretty upset. They'll have only themselves to blame for building peoples hopes so high with those promises.

And he has more experience running stuff than McCain. Here's hoping. "I wish I was as cocksure of anything as Tom Macaulay is of everything." -- Viscount Melbourne |

Anyway, the presidents who we generally considr geat came to power at times when you couldn't make some people take it when you put a gun to their head. “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.” -Albert Einstein |

I do not know what you mean in saying Hillary has no principles? Perhaps you beleive what the Republicans have said about her in some of the forums circulating? Apparently you looked at the cover but never really read the book. So the Obama camp said that they must overcome two things lacking with Obama and that is his lack of experience and his non-ability so far in drawing in the white middle class workers and independants. The voting blocks needed to win which Clinton now has in her pocket. John Edwards is also popular with the middle class workers and so he could add some advantage to the Obama ticket, however not as well as what Clinton already has proven she can do. V.P. or not Obama is going to need to get the Hillary Clinton supporters on his side and she has offered to unite with him in that effort, even if not as a Vice President. She might be able to do that for him when he is nominated (and it seems that will be the case if you go by popular numbers being promoted on the news) but it will be more difficult for her to do that for someone else rather then for her self, as they know once the election is over she will have no say so in White House agendas. And it is clear he would not take her advice anyway. His camp will suggest that Obama find a running mate with war hero status to off set any advantage McCain might have. That is what former President Carter suggested. The Republicans want McCain to not represent another four years of Bushism, by appearing to not agree with Bush. Republican leaders know their party is like dog food that no one would buy. So they want to have a new brand of doggie food to offer us voters. Ha! So now McCain is changing his tune a bit by giving a deadline for ending the war in Iraq, I think he used the date of 2014 for pulling out of the war. So no more 100 years in Irag is "find for him" because that sounds too much like the Bush plan for managing that war. Now I hate to qoute Bush Sr. But really.... give me a break! Enough of the nonsense. Now the republicans are loosing in Republican states when it comes to seating people in the Senate or Congress, and as Governors. This might be the most historical landslide victory for Democrats that we have ever witnessed. Obama ( or Hillary ... still a ray of hope there ) cannot help but win the next election - all they have to do is avoid a big blunder or scandle. But yet we cannot under-estimate McCain, he has been around the block a few times and was re-elected by his state over and over. None the less. Dogfood is still dogfood. the John "new imporved taste dogfood" McCain ticket will try their best. Who let the dogs out ... woof woof. Perhaps he can look like Lassie instead of a pitbull.
