| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | Obama wins primary by 7 votes. That is to say he won the primary in Guam by 7 votes. Every vote really did count in that primary. That is really close. And the National Polls also show they are nearly a tie when it comes to popular votes. The Guam deligates (four of them) will be split evenly with two for each canidate, so they had a photo finish tie relative to deligate count. Every vote is strating to really count in these run-offs. Hmm? Guam got some notice this time around, most Americans do not even know it is part of the USA. Meanwhile the lastest debate between Hillary and Obama is the Gas Holiday tax relief idea. I think the idea should be tested so we can demand they continue it for a year. I could use an extra 30 bucks a month in my pocket even if the rest of you do not. However the Clinton/McCain plan is not about standing up to the oil industry, it is about kicking the tax collector in the butt. I am all for that because right now the taxes collected are being mostly miss-spent anyway. CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive - Clinton on offensive in gas tax debate « - Blogs from CNN.com Of course the tiny relief from gas taxes will not solve our energy problem in the long run as Obama pointed out, but 30 bucks is still 30 bucks, something Obama might be able to do without, being upper class and all, but I can sure use any small amount of tax relief they want to send my way, as can millions of other people on a fixed SS income. And by then we will be paying about $7.00 a gal if current projections are correct. Anyway, what else can they debate about? They nearly agree on everything. Only HIllary should not stand in a red pick-up truck like those guys in a redneck cowboy song. Not when she is in a state with a large African American community. Anyway a truck uses to much gas - she should stand on top of a hybred car, or a electric golf kart. |

He has spoken that magical election winning phrase, that delicious combination of the word cut and the word tax. Bush won the second election mostly because he raised spending and lowered taxes. Anybody could have seen that this was going to strangle the economy with inflation, but nobody bothered to see because we're a nation of hedonistic capitalists and if you wave $30 in front of us we chase it like its ten tons of platinum. Destroying America one Volconvo post at a time. Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than those which spring from any other cause. |

Some news sources are now projecting you will save as much as $70.00 with that 10 percent off of the total taxes placed on gasoline. I guess it depends on how much and how fast you can drive around and use up all the gas you can get. In California we pay an extra "large amont" of sin taxes plus the 10 percent sales tax, which was a temporary tax to keep people from driving too much as that causes more smog. Our temporary sin tax was put into effect - long long time ago. Obama did the math, the higher the cost of gasoline the more taxes the government gets percentage wise per gal. So if the cost of gas goes up it is the same thing as rising the amount of taxes we are paying to the government. That way they can (in theory) fill more pot holes in the streets and build new highways to allow for more cars. If the government prevents the price of gas from going up they prevent more taxes from being paid for their new budget of more spending. I will be happy to take my extra $30.00 bucks to the store but that will not make me vote for McCain. Ron Paul would have dumped federal income taxes all together and he did not get that many people flocking for those savings. The Bush Sr. idea of "no new taxes" was a fib and everyone knows it, but I guess Republicans will take the bate when those Republicans go fishing for votes. I will take any tax reduction that is possible as long as it does not reduce us to a 3rd country of dirt roads. But I know how to avoid the hook in the bate. And will vote Democratic. Lets propose a war in Iraq holiday. That might save us a few bucks. | |
