Lean left, lean right; democrat, republican; liberal, conservative... I think that they're 3 ways to describe the 2 major US political parties, but I have no idea what goes with what? Help organizing these would be greatly appreciated.

Democrats, or Liberals ( Lefties ) favor the Welfare State for people, while Republicans, or Conservatives ( Righties )favor a Welfare State for corporations.

Libertarians, on the other hand, favor fiscal conservatism, and socially unrestrictive policies, and favor keepeing government small, and manageable.

From an international perspective, the Democratic Party is a right wing party. The Republican Party is an extreme right wing party.

International how? I can see most of Europe, but Republicans are leftists by many other areas of the world's standards.

Well let's see: South America is deep rooten in socialism. Africa is next to chaos, it doesn't count. Maybe if we consider Iran, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and China, but those aren't the world.
But anyway most republicans are proud to call themselves conservative pro-capitalism imperialist christians. It sounds pretty much far right to me. Democrats are more right/center-right.
By the way, I'm radical left.

Capitalism is an at best moderate economic ideal, Imperialsim is more authoritairan, so it's not really on a left right scale, and christian is a religion. None of this necessarily makes you a rightists, especially since christianity has been used to inspire socialism in places like South america, which is not all Socialist. And I'd give russia farther right than republicans, at least its leadership.
