Who is the fattest Pig- Meaning Biggest Wasteful Pork Barrel Spender?

http://www.cagw.org/site/DocServer/S...pdf?docID=3024

Senate:
(1) Thad Cochran - Fake Republican out of MS - #1 - $846 million
(13) Clinton - Why am I not surprise she is so high - $296.2 million
(20)Harry Reid- Preach how wasteful the war is, but you waste $259.3 million yourself
(21) Dick Durbin - Please Sauerberg beat this guy, he is bleeding IL dry - $256.3 million
(33) Ted Kennedy - One of the worst Americans alive - $192.1 million
(34) Lieberman - Yep he is still a Democrat -$149.4 million
(38) Kerry - $138.8 million
(60) Obama - I was actually pleasantly surprised how low he was. However, I am skeptical that it is so low because he hasn't been in office long and his campaigning has interferred with his senate job. - $97.4 million

Bottom of the List with a bi $0 - that is not spending a cent for all of you slow people!
McCain and Feingold!
Now that is true fiscal conservatism!

The House
http://www.cagw.org/site/DocServer/H...pdf?docID=3022
in the Millions
(1) Wicker - $176.3
(3) Murtha - $159.1
(7) Biden - $139.9
(19) Pelosi - $91.2
(23) Hobson - $88

Ron Paul - $22.7 million- middle of the list not sure the number- I was very surprised. You would figure this guy would practice what he preach and spend nothing (like McCain did), but I guess he is just a politician. There were 276 representative that spent less, including 10 that spent $0

Here is a list of '08 presidential candidate that spent less than Ron Paul and the number of space they beat him by:
Tancredo - $17.6 - 52 lower
Duncan - $15.9 - 75 lower
Kucinich - $8.1 - 182 lower
Graves - $6.7 - 196 lower

Shocking Ron Paul!

How can Rush still sit there with a straight face and call McCain a Liberals. Check the list the liberals/Democrats are the wasteful pork barrel spenders. McCain, much to his credit, has spend a single dollar. Even the fraud Ron Paul spend $22 million!

Ron Paul addressed this topic on C-SPAN, and he basically said that as a Congress person, he is responsible to the will of the constituency, and since they asked for the Pork Barrel project, he lobbied for it.

So while it may seem that you have caught him being less than forthright, it appears that he has a valid answer. ( And it predated your question by such a long margin I can't even find the link any more. )

Nice Red Herring! I consider Bush more of a Democrat than a Republican when it comes to fiscal matters.

Here is my argument.
George Bush = Democrat!

Also your boy Obama wants to invade Sudan and get us into war there, so what will be the cost of that?

LOL, that was a political cop-out! A weak one at that.
One of the things I used to really admire about RP was I thought you could really believe the words coming out of his mouth!

This is similar to the Hitler wasnt a christian debate. Hes not christian because he is bad, therefore hes actually an atheist, and bush isnt a republican because he bad, therefore hes a democrat

Nice try straw man, but not even a close association.
If you check the thread, I lay out most of Bush's fiscal policies mirror the Democrats - Preemptive war, out of control spending and rise in taxes!

I like how whenever one of the righties does something wrong, the rest of them disown that person and call them a democrat. Interesting isn't it?

Knowledge is power, and with it comes responsibility, use it well.

How so? What better way to shirk responsibility than to say he was never one of them.

You miss something. Republicans don't have a set ideology aside from anti-gay and pro-gun and on occasion anti-abortion. Other then that everything is fluid. Thus they can disown 'their own' on certain issues because they can freely change the ideology to disown a belief they formerly had, such as small government, low spending and fiscal conservatism.

This whole O.P. is total nonsense, the numbers might be right about what they voted to support, but you inserted one missleading thing.

"Wastefull" pork spending. Yet you failed in this O.P. to prove the money was wasted on some useless purpose. Some or all of the projects might have been needed and very useful and wise to support with funding.

You need to show what each item is and show why it was a waste of money.

180 on Obama, Que? My views on him are I think he is moral individual and will do what he thinks is "best" for America. But as a social conservative I disagree with fiscal policies. As he was much lower on the list than say Clintax, I was pleasant surprised for that.

Pork barrel spending is government spending for projects that are intended primarily to benefit particular constituents or campaign contributors (its different than other spending). It is pandering to a special interest in which the funds get diluted and wasted on projects that are purely political.

Quote:
it involves funding for government programs whose economic or service benefits are concentrated in a particular area but whose costs are spread among all taxpayers.
Citizens Against Government Waste:
Big Dig failures threaten federal funding - The Boston Globe

Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) and the Congressional Porkbusters Coalition developed seven criteria for a project to qualify as pork:

(1) Requested by only one chamber of Congress;
(2) Not specifically authorized;
(3) Not competitively awarded;
(4) Not requested by the President;
(5) Greatly exceeds the President’s budget request or the previous year’s funding;
(6) Not the subject of congressional hearings; and
(7) Serves only a local or special interest.

Citizens Against Government Waste:

Pork is bad!

I shouldn't have opened this thread before lunch time. All this talk of pork is making me hungry. @Ghook93, thanks for posting the list of qualifications for pork. THe term gets thrown around a lot, but it's good to have a definition.
