Ron Paul, a lost cause...

Why is that there are people still out running around waving Ron Paul signs? He never had a chance, and still doesn't have a chance. So why is he still in the race? Also why is he such a big issue, Gravel from the Democrats is still running yet I never hear about him. Whats the deal???

Because Ron Paul is awesome, that's why.

Yeah, he's cool, but he has no chance just like Kucinich didn't have a chance.

Its amazing how people keep missing the point. Neither Ron Paul nor Kucinich ever actually thought they had a chance to win. They run to gain visibility for their ideas.

There are other ways one can push out those ideas--but I suppose it's easier to get the money to do it in a campaign than it would be otherwise. I doubt, for instance, that Ron Paul could have gotten the contributions from people enough if he was trying to make a movie to be released in major theaters and wasn't trying to run for president.

Because Dr. Paul is not going to let a buch of ( Neocons ) people pretending to be Republicans decide who should be the candidate for the Republican party.

This way, anybody who agrees with his platform can vote for him after the Neocons force all the other candidates out of the race in the primaries.

So, America, you do still have a choice.

Don't blow it.

And hopefully Paul's Libertarian nonsense will sink back into the marshes of obscurity from where it came.

Why should the "Libertarian Party" go back into the crapper when it isn't even
all the way out (of course, Paul tactfully has run as a Republican, knowing it would likely gain him more votes)?

Paul's "return all the power back to the states" platform was too radical to ever be taken seriously by anyone.

Yet sadly it made the most sense. Governments are more efficient and best serve the people when they are localized.

And of course, it was how the United States was initially meant to be run. It is a great way to avoid the kind of situation we have now in Iraq.

I like the idea of competition between the states.

But we do need strong federal government as well.

If we have a strong Federal Government, all the Libertarians won't be able to shoot anyone who walks on their porch or open a brothel next to a school and that will make them very sad.

That's not all Americans want to do, of course.

Yet what libertarians want is the ability to be able to do that.

They want a nation where they can carry a gun, or open a brothel if they felt like it, or smoke cigarettes inside a public building.

Pretty much a nation where you are the sole determining factor of your life, along with your trusty gun to ward off other people and the evil government.

Thankfully, libertarians have never gained any more traction than any of the other fringe groups.

Unlike that authoritarian governmet drivel you're espousing, which has failed in every inception since the begining of time.

And what authoritarian governmet drivel would that be? Oh, coming from a 'libertarian', and as such a holder of an ideology that is synonamous with absolute catastrophic failure on every level and South American neo-fascist regimes, that is most amusing.

But I guess I hit a sore spot, I take it you enjoyed seeing your ideals wash back up from the U-bend of history and are now rather upset that your ideals have, yet again, been flushed away.

Actually, they don't desire to shoot anybody, they reserve the "right" to defend themselves from those who would initiate force aganst them.

You seem to conveniently forget this counties early years.

I also percieve an attempt to equate Libertarianism with fascism, do I not?

I am sad that others do not fully percieve the level of their own dienfranchisement. I share the Libertarian vision of seeing people free to run their own lives, as evolution intended. ( However, remember that I am not a "Libertarian" as in a party member, but I am closer to them ideologically than any other political party, and I do often defend their philisophical positions. )
